Totally agree, What does concern me is that whelan just isnt willing to give martinez any money, or is whelan waiting to see if martinez can cope with this division answer at the moment is a big no, as for gomez totally out of his depth

i wouldnt WRLFC well give martinez any money either if he goes out and signs the likes of gomez or scotland

”Our supporters realise who we are and what we are,” he [Whelan]insists. “They’re just happy we are in the Premier League and we have Man United coming here on Saturday. They accept that when we get an offer of £10 million we have to take it. I’ve yet to get a complaint when we sell a player. And they’re as proud as me when they go on to greater things. Or that’s what they tell me.”

    ???

Who’s they exactly Dave? Lindsay and his bum chums?

Any Latics “supporters” who are just happy with us just being in the PL, star struck that we’re playing United and OK for us to sell our talent when we don’t need to / for less than they’re worth / to rival and non big four clubs ain’t no fans of the Latics.

    Deluded.

yes dave we agree that when we get an offer of 10 mil for our best players we have to take it,

what we dont f u c k i n g agree with is letting our best players go for £6 million like you did with cattermole and replacing them with second rate championship ones like gomez and perhaps bodde and this clown is going to cost the same as what we got for catts.

    f u c k i n g unbelievable

16661 with 4,500 from wolves

So for your first game of the season, New Manager, Riding high after a lucky win at a big club at the weekend and you can only muster 12k home fans!!

    Turning Blue My Arse

not very good that was it ,but i am afraid i cant take critism from a fan of a team and game that cant sell out a 14000 capacity stadium when one team is less than 5 miles away and the other team (the self appointed biggest team in the world)is 15 miles from the venue, especially when that game is the semi final of their biggest domestic competition,

these same people are are the ones crowing when they had a 20k crowd v leeds, and very quiet with an 11k crowd(inc freebies) and 3 k away fans the week after against warrington

lets face it this town is quite deprived and even more so during these harsh economic days 2 games in a week is hard for many,so most chose the most attractive fixture this coming saturday.

oh i forgot to add the reason for the massive crowd v leeds -3000 free tickets and the rest 10 quid adults and 1 quid kids.

Billy Buxton ?!?!

Your all that obsessed you have to pretend you dont know who he is     Your obesession with all things Wigan RL knows no bounds….your even dilluding yourself that you dont know who the towns most famous Sporting Icon is!!

You would have to have lived under a rock for the past 50 years to not know who billy boston is in wigan…..then again most of you fools are from skem arent you!!

now now tightarseprick play nicely,i know you eggy types hero worship that boston fellow and i can understand why – he always served a decent pint – but i beg to differ about him being the towns most famous sporting icon,if you ask 100% of the people in this country who this billy boston chap is/was less than a fraction of 1% would know.

i am afraid that honour must go to the man you despise so much you even organised the ‘great pie boycott’ in his honour,
he is an ex footballer who played at the very top-and i can guarantee that he is known far and wide in both this country and around the world as well,

lets let everybody else in on this conundrum tightarse it is non other than David Whelan who along with WIGAN ATHLETIC FOOTBALL CLUB has put a small town in the northwest of england on the WORLD sporting map.
not just the m62 corridor or east coast of australia like your beloved billy boy did.

in reply to: Will we be in the premier league in 3 years?? #5880

Will there be a prem league as we know it in 3 years time, I feel a super league is coming, the money men arent splashing the cash for nothing,

Super Leagues already here mate…..Number 1 sport in wigan ;) [/quote]

tightarse my old mate good to see a thick eggchasing kangaroo like you has finally managed to find your way to this new forum,
have you got your wurmbeley tickets yet ? oh i forgot your not going there again !
must be a massive blow to the thousands and thousands of your fans who went to the semi final,
oh i forgot again(my memory isnt what it used to be)both you and warrington despite being within 10 minutes in there case and 30 minutes in yours didnt manage to sell out a 14000 seater stadium for the biggest game you have had in years,
you still organising the great pie boycott?

anyway must go, might talk to you again sometime,no doubt you will be on from time to time.

in reply to: Wolves opinion on the game and Wigan #5604
    I’ll add to that alex…

What about when the Wolves keeper fumbled the ball from a cross (or maybe it was a corner) and it fell to I THINK N’Zogbia about a yard out.

Instead of staying composed and maybe taking a touch inside before shooting.. he instead went for it first time when there was 2 defenders sliding in at him and hit it straight at them.

And if loudmouthblue doesn’t class that N’Zogbia 1-on-1 as working the keeper then there’s something seriously wrong.

your clutching at straws ,as i said i cant remember the wolve keeper making a save-you have pointed out the one he did do-whoopy fuckin doo
wolves had at least 10 of the ‘half chance misses’ like the 5 that some one pointed out latics had.

the point is we tested their keeper once and the faults that,if not cured quickly will result in us having a long season of relegation struggle again.

Worst performance we’ll see for a while I think.

Just one of those games nothing falls for you.

You went 1-0 up early and went 110% defence for the rest of the game. The plan worked and you got the win but on another day we could have quite easily won the game with the chances we missed.

Gomez had a decent game along with Thomas. Bramble was awful, as was the majority of our team although I thought Koumas wasn’t as bad as others (such as N’Zogbia).

My personal opinion of your team and fans is that you’re a defensive team who tries to hold onto wins (will work against some teams, not against others – as you may have seen at Sunderland last night). You brought around 4,000 last night which is a good following (not even close to some of the followings we get at the DW from the away team) but for a Tuesday night it was good (although it was your 1st away game of the season). You were pretty quiet when singing compared to alot of teams in the PL and although you were 1-0 for the majority of the game apart from a few songs your support (in terms of volume) was pretty average.

Not as excited about the Utd game on Saturday now but I would have give a loss last night to beat them this weekend so lets just hope last night was a blip and it wasn’t the Villa game that was a one off!

I dont know what game you watched last night but to say this is pretty unbelievable
You went 1-0 up early and went 110% defence for the rest of the game. The plan worked and you got the win but on another day we could have quite easily won the game with the chances we missed

    chances we missed ?

i dont recall the wolves goalkeeper making a save the whole match they out thought and out fought us all night they pushed us back and had 3 defenders on us every time we had the ball, and our players had no answer except to bramble hoofing diagonal balls straight into touch on at least 6 occasions, once again kumas was totally anonamous, something he has been in his whole time with us,brown did his one good game then back to mediocrity act, gomez despite plenty ball had no substance and thomas let the game go over his head,

the worse thing though when teams adopt that formation against a team like us who can only pass in front of the defence, someone has to do one of two things, run with the ball and take a defender out of position or make a clinical defence splitting pass to WILLING RUNNERS,the worry for me last night was martinez could not see this and we dont seem to have the personnel to implement it.
