Cheer up – you get to face one of the best teams next up. Wonder how you’ll fare if a cr@p team can pick you off 4-1.

Mcshitdog, why would fans of little clubs like Wesy ham ,Forrest and so on not be on this board when fans from massive clubs like Slumberland (3 points more than us, til Tuesday)

I think you’d be better concentrating on your mini-league with Wolves, QPR, Bolton & Blackburn. I think I can just about make you out in the league table…

If you went to the game you would know what i was on about sweetheart -x-

I was there and whilst it was close in the 1st half, Sunderland’s cutting edge was clear, whilst Wigan was more huff & puff – even more so when that lump Salmon came on – is he your new Jason Scotland???

Anyway, the facts are that attendances, corners, shots on/off target, possession, crowd figures, away followings, ticket prices, free kicks, tackles won and average age of players count for nothing – its all about how many times your players score. Sunderland scored 4 and Wigan scored 1.

And yer pitch looks sh!t – can you sort it before us peanut hugging klumps start using it again.

Alternatively, have to re-apply for your place every three years and face the prospect of relegation based on your business plan, which of course is linked to your income.

If that were the case, the Latics would have been jettisoned from the PL after 2 seasons once the PL realised that they were never going to fit in with their poor attendances which i will admit still beat the rugbys!

Mr Magoo has obviously never heard of the football pink??

Heard of it? I used to deliver it at about 6pm on a Saturday night! But I wasnt aware it was available in the suburbs and I can remember reports but they were generally first half ones only. As the amateur leagues kick off much earlier (due to lack of floodlights), of course their results were in.

I dont think many West Ham, Cardiff, Leeds, Leicester, Sheffield, Forest & Derby fans will be reading this thread, but I have to agree with you. Wigan are in the premier league because they accrued enough points to be promoted and since then they have accrued enough points to retain their place.

A simple formula really – make sure there are 3 teams below you come the end of game 38 and repeat the following season. Sadly the clubs you refer to weren’t very good at it.

We need to get these kids to somehow choose Latics. Other than win a trophy, I’m not sure how we do it.

You cant. If they want to follow the Latics, they will.

Hindley (and Hindley Green) is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, of which the population is approx 350,000. When talking about crowds, some on here are very quick to only compare Wigan’s population with Blackburn and say the population is only approx 70,000 (town figure) and the “Borough” figure doesnt count – otherwise 13,000 followers out of 350,000 population doesnt compare very well with Blackburn, Burnley etc who get roughly 25% of their population following their local football side.

So you can hardly bleat when the people in the outskirts of the Borough choose to follow more established, more popular, more successful teams, that they and their forefathers have been following for generations. Probably in the likes of Hindley, Hindley Green & Tyldesly, the people who are in their 40s, 50s and 60s now didnt even know there was a football club in Wigan in the 1960s and 1970s, and why should they – they had top-flight teams such as Man U, Man C and Bolton all within spitting distance – in those days you’d only find the Latics’ results in the Wigan Observer the following Thursday.

Stop trying to be something bigger than you are and then you may just find peace of mind.

after all its only 13 miles as the crow flies from Hindley to Old Trafford – not much more than it is to the DW.

I take it geography isn’t your best subject.[/quote]

Its not, but I do know how to find a route on a computer.

I got my information from Bing Maps. Taking Thomas St, Hindley (WN2 4) and destination M16 0RA. Selecting walking and it comes out at 13.7 miles, but as I said “As the Crow Flies”, that figure will come down slightly.

No need to apologise though – I make allowances for retards who dont look before they leap.

Hindley is a Manchester overspill as well as a Wigan one, and its quite likely that you will come across Man U and Man C fans in th town – after all its only 13 miles as the crow flies from Hindley to Old Trafford – not much more than it is to the DW.

As a regular visitor to the DW to watch the Warriors, Mr Keane probably thought that his name would be on a stadium database – he was probably unaware that only the Egg watches both sports in Wigan.
