Ps….Was expecting EFL to announce a 10 point deduction this morning after the “w@@@@@ chorus he richly deserved.
What a tool he is. Got nothing less than he deserved. Post game ….Best interview was quoted on line was McCleans pop at Horwich Wanderers gobby manager…and the other “big club ” supporters. Deserves a contract for that alone. What a difference he made yesterday too !!!
Fortunate enough to be there yesterday……not had many better days watching us (if any). Unbelievable season long effort from everyone connected at the club. Top of league and top goalscorer…..what an achievement. F@@@ thinking about what we need to do in preparation for next season…..I’m sure that the managementis already at it in the back ground…I’m just going to bask in this all summer. What a season !!!
F*** the let’s get a point. This is a 1 game winner takes all. Why the hell would anyone want Mk to falter rather than us top this league is gross stupidity .We are virtually up,so that is in the bag…..now for the top prize. Certainly the players won’t be playing for 2nd ,as McCleans comments prove. Let’s make one humongous final statement to the football community, Efl,the so called “Big clubs” sitting below us and more importantly to our town that yet again we have achieved the impossible .We have risen from near oblivion to top our league in 1 season and return to where we rightly belong………let’s finish with a bang and smash them….
Can’t believe how twitchy Ive felt since the Portsmouth result. Counting the hours down to 12:30 Saturday. Last time I felt this jittery was the 6 minutes after the famous Wembley goal. That was 6 minutes……this is over 3 days of it !!!!
Have to agree with cup winners comments on LR’s substitutions. Unfathomable at times particularly when in control of games and with a comfortable lead. The McLean one against Bolton, the way we utilise Magennis and his set up against Cambridge all left a lot of us baffled. Still he has got us into an enviable final game position so I hope he sets us up to stamp our name for a 4th time on the league 1 trophy. Simply go for the 3pts from the off….let our dogs off the leash…..and if all not quite working then make positive attack orientated substitutions. LR certainly has got it right a lot more than he’s got it wrong as the table shows………and he will again Saturday !!
Will get promoted…..jitters setting in but most teams with either promotion hopes or relegation fears will be feeling the pressure just the same. I just want us to set up to win the game and see where it takes us. As I stated in another thread I think Shrewsbury certainly isn’t a shoe in ,their nearly even goal difference proves the point. But we are top,it is in our hands so a win and the others can scrap amongst themselves. So roll on Saturday. After a stunning season I’m not losing faith in the manager or players because in my 47 years watching us I would put this seasons achievements up there at the top ,maybe even above the FA cup,Carling Cup ,Europe and various promotions. I can honestly say that after the administration turmoil that threatened our clubs existence I have never felt prouder to support and donate energy, money and time to our resilient club. Let Saturday crown another unbelievable chapter in our history. If there is any justice then we will win and sit rightly so at the summit…….1-3 win.
Utmost admiration for all those who made the trip. Watched it in work. 2nd half defending was comfortably worst I’ve seen from us this season. We really are struggling.Luckily our competitors have had hiccups too so we’re still in pole position. Going to put my emotions through the wringer on Saturday but everyone below us would swap with us. Saving grace with results mean both Plymouth and Gillingham need to win against Rotherham and Mk Dons so they’ve got work to do. My only concern is playing another team with zero to achieve. Seen with Cambridge, Burton, Ipswich and Portsmouth that they play with more freedom the pressure is off….2pts from 12…..against Plymouth who had a target we performed better albeit still on a draw. I think Shrewsbury will be difficult…..one stat I noticed is that for their lowly league position their goal difference is only -1…….compared to -9,-15,-30 of the teams around them ,so certainly won’t be easy but hopefully we’ll finish in style and enjoy the delights of Shrewsburys hostileries after.
Would’ve been great to have got the deserved 3pts and celebrate at home. Mixture of not taking the chances 1st half and some poor refereeing decisions and it’s now on to Tuesday. I thought they played well and only a goalkeeper error made it uphill but I said before a point was the target and promotion virtually assured so I’m happy. Still want the title so let’s finish it at Portsmouth…..yes we’ve stumbled a bit but I’ve no doubt we are top because we are the no1…..so a little work still to do.
Total disaster…..no chance of being in this position 12 months from now if we blow it. Sunderland, Ipswich, Derby,Wednesday either Rotherham or Mk and even Bolton will make this league massively competitive. What we have achieved is bordering on a football miracle so I’ve no doubt after a herculean effort so far we WILL get the job done. After all it wouldn’t be Wigan if you didn’t have to wear an adult pamper .
We will get promoted and more sweating to come, but yesterday was very disappointing and the team selection was the reason. I have to agree skill not brawn was needed………on the pitch, not bench.
Magennis looked much more effective when the ball played to his feet. He’s being hung out to dry with this pointless 50yd diagonal lumping game. Can count on 1 finger how many headers he won…so why the F@@@ doe he persist with those tactics??? Piss poor at Burton and now Cambridge. Gave them benefit of the doubt at Burton…..pitch,conditions but first half yesterday was woeful. If he wanted to play this long ball game then Magennis was a bad choice. Their 2 forwards yesterday were an example of the type we should have gone for. Speaking to a Hull supporter I work with was baffled as to why we are playing him in that role as most of his goals for them came from delivery’s in from the bylines. Wasting Power in that position 1st half another balls up as was selecting Shinnie (setting up not to lose)and Edwards????? .Anonymous for 45 mins. For the few who still haven’t embraced McClean…..then boy don’t we miss his energy, drive and balls deep commitment!!!……Still in a great position but as I always believe the teams with nothing to play for are more dangerous…..they play with freedom, one eye on possible new contracts and pressure off…….Burton, Cambridge,Shrewsbury and next up Ipswich fall into that category…….and so far we’re not showing too well against them. Would rather play teams with something still to go for.
Poor performance today…..set up wrong for me and as much as I want Magennis to succeed he gives us zero outlet. How many times was he out jumped by the smaller fullback ?? Last 25 better but a mountain to climb and “international rescue” Humphs introduction nearly paid off. Think someone left the key in the cell door cos the MK result was desperately needed. Inching our way to promotion. Hopefully this time Tuesday we’ll have a fingernail on the finish line……just need to grind out another great away result.
Flat performance. Tight pitch which Burton used to their advantage. Magennis really should have nailed his one on one. Stunning clearance at the death. Another point gains more value after Rotherhams hiding. Still a lot of points to go for yet but must get 3 Saturday cos a couple of tough games follow. Really expected 3pts last night but grateful for the 1 considering how game panned out. Nightmare journey home. Is there any journey nationwide anymore that doesn’t get ruined by delays ?
And the “spend money, illegally gained” crooks below them !!!
