I would of took a draw at the start, but i still think we need a bit more from the middle of midfield we gave the ball away too easy, and you r right about the defence, but overall happy with a draw :)
What i am saying is that whelan will sell/leave one day so why worry, enjoy it now, and if we do go down, we will again enjoy the ride, but we will still survive, with or without him.
One why would we go under, yes we would end up down the leagues, but we would survive as we did in the 80s and early 90s with only 1300 in attendance, and yes we prob would only have 2-3 thousand watching, i think people forget we played teams like bury rochdale etc years ago when they also only got 2500 watching and had no sugar daddy, and guess what everbody they are still here, so take your blinkers off and dont be so worried because we will survive, all be it without the millions, and the over paid players and the flash cars, :( ;)
Seriously, anyone wanting to get rid of our manage is a small minority and should leave nowI think you will find only the small minority wanted him, lets face it prob three quarters of the dw hadnt heard of him
It amazes me how many folk who were salivating at Martinez coming on board are now calling for his head.
What did you expect from an unproven manager trying to play an ambitious new system with a depleted squad? That we were going to carry on where Bruce left off and be pushing for Europe? Get real. This season was always going to be about building and learning (for Bob, the players and us) for next season whilst avoiding the drop, and even though I was very pessimistic about the Bobby Bandwagon before this season kicked off I’ve seen and heard enough between the guff to make me believe that we’re heading in the right direction.
1. We are trying to play the way the game intendedand showed great signs of it at times
2. We have a manager who has galvanised the fans
3. We are clear of relegation and on course for safety (allbeit a rollercoaster course)Have we lost 9 on the trot (Jewell) or 8ish on the trot (Hutchings). No. Did we call for their heads then – no. Even after 8 losses for Hutchings we had less folk than now on this board baying for him (and there were much more folk on this board back then).
That said there is much work to be done and some strategic and tactical fundamentals that need sorting.
1. If you’re unproven in the Prem as a manager, don’t surround yourself with folk who are even less experienced than you. Bob needs an experienced backroom staff and there’s no shortage of out of work / lower division managers and coaches with prem experience
2. Buy/loan proven premiership players. We all laughed when Kilbane/Sibierski/Heskey/Unsworth/etc came along, but boy did their experience count for some. Ball should be signed.
3. Don’t send out messages that you don’t care if you lose by 3,4.5 goals as long as you play the right way. What message does that give the players and the fans? It’s OK if you’re scoring bagfulls in other games, but we all know value of a single goal. Bob needs to watch that game against Sheff U.
4. Make Scharner captain or at least give Mario and everyone else some leadership coaching. We need 11 leaders on the pitch, not just 0.5.
5. Stop picking the same blooming team and making exactly the same subs every week. Whilst we don’t have great strength in depth we do have some players who are on a par with the first team (e.g Cho, Koumas, Sinclair, even Kapo need to be used more effectively)
None of this though, as you can see, involves sacking the manager. He needs our faith, patience and support as a central constant whilst he makes some big decisons/changes around him.
What a load of shit, Anyone can pass along the back four then hit a ball to the wings, and if martinez thinks that, scotland, gomez jones and barrow are good enough, then we have a manager ith great judgment, not, When we played against sunderland why did he not start with the team that finished that game, and if he says rodney cant play up front on his own, well lets try 442, and b4 you start i didnt want martinez because he his just too inexperienced for the prem as ince found out, but eh it was one of whelans cheap options
some of our supporters could do with a bit more passion aswell, rubbish atmosphere at our groundI agree but what have we got to get excited for every time we go forward we stop on the half way and pass back,
vat69, is that the same warnock that took sheff utd down playing hoof ball? great idea! Paul hart unlucky to be sacked not his fault best players sold? but you want to sack martinez who also had his best players sold in cattermole and valencia would that be fair? bruce left because he knew he couldnt take us any further. we will always sell our better players because we have the smallest income in the divisionI would say burnley have the smallest income, giving all them free season tickets away would had to that, Trouble with our team is the managers tactics and the players heads go down too easy, and again that problem his the manager and backroom staffs fault, they just dont show anything on the touch line
January transfer window is crunch time for Roberto,
We need at least 4 proven Premier League players,……….If old tightarse doesnt stump up I wouldnt blame Bob if he walks!
Bytheway, why cant Bob see Jason Scotland isnt good enough??
(Even Jumpin Jimmy and his lad know it!)
He doesnt need to walk i will ring a taxi for him
spot on that post
out simple,
if atmosphere is one man banging a drum and 20 people singing it was electric. 5000 away fans singing together is more my idea of electric. The JJB was poor again today and after recent away trips to Portsmouth and Spurs (where we had little to shout about) I am begining to think we are vocally the worst supporters in the league. Everton was also no atmosphere from the 450 away supporters and the Burnley game was average. Villa was ok but we were good in every department that day. Forums may not tell the true storeyAs for Hugo being a thret I must have watched a different game as he was not impressive at all unil he went upfront.
Think you need an english lesson my thugby friend, and since you last went to the ground watching the cherry and shite, It as now been renamed to the DW,
Man of the match for me today…..worked hard showed loads of pace and put the living shoites up their defence when he ran at them…..And to all those giving Roberto sh@t last week…grow up!
He is the best man we could realistically have at the helm. He has respect for the club and the fans, which we haven’t had in a manager in years.
We made Sunderland look very ordinary today!
Up the Tics!
roberto may have just learnt a good lesson ex swansea players aint good enough
Just hope martinez has learnt that rodney needs to be in the middle up front and scotland and gomez need to be sent back swansea, lets face it the two are just not good enough not even close to being prem players, well done the rest
Is on Cockney Latic Nowvery good that jayt, we can only hope,
think you love them really :o
