Dave Whelan saved us from going under. At no stage did I say he was there at the start or say anything about our history!
The argument is that Whelan took us from the brink and did something with Wigan Athletic that will probaly never be matched by any other Football Club!

Whelan after all has funded moves for N’Zog and Hugo in the not so distant past.So, the only conclusion I seem to come to is that Bobby doesn’t want them. They don’t fit into his style of play etc.
Last season we had a strike force of Heskey, Mido, Zaki and Hugo (not all at the same time, granted). Now we have Hugo and a second rate Championship striker. Where did it all go wrong?!!

You can’t force a sport on a town that mainly doesn’t want it. The town has spoken, Dave knows this.
Trouble is i dont think the town wants thugby either, 11,000 season tickets sold aint good, and couldnt sell there semi final tickets speaks volumes, and even whelan dumped the thugby and gave latics the ground, so ill say it again its about time the people of wigan started supporting there town instead of jumping up and down in a pub watching other teams, i wouldnt say supporting because there not really doing that in a pub, sad but true.[/quote]

Great post, people forget about all that, blinkers are still working for some, and for someone not interested investing, dont be silly, I remember a certain gage investing and we had nothing, people forget that or dont even know about that.
Lets face it the only transfers coming to wigan will be someone from swansea or a player from the spanish second division, so why bother we dont need more crap.
A few thoughts:1 Gomez – totally depressing to see so many on this board slating Gomez so early. The guy has got real ability, keeps possession, has good vision….what do we want instead??.. you listen to other teams fans, radio city yesterday etc they all can recognise what a good player he is so why have we got so many idiots who can’t – depressing?
2. Figueroa – clueless, zero distribution skills, no ability to overlap and get forward, get him to Sunderland tomorrow…all I can say is that Edman must be poor…tell me why I am wrong
3. Scotland – Agahahowa returns in a pub players guize….absolutely zero chance of making it at this level…painful to watch. Him and King are absolutely 100% the worst strikers in the Prem and we have them both :)
4. Pollitt – great servant but he is shot….cant command the box, flapping at crosses….thanks Mike but time to become a coach not a player…come on tell me I am wrong
5. Bobby – give him time, has made a major mistake in bringing in ‘zero respect Barrow’ but will turn it round …tactically we are going nowhere with 4,5,1 and the Scharner ‘experiment’ (forward???) yesterday was painful but keep the faithI could go on but this has been cathartic after yesterday :D

We all know what whelan as done for wafc which is great, but to all you whelan lovers, have a look what he his doing to the club, yes he does want the club debt free but surely we must be debt free by now, Just look at the team we have now, crowds dropping so fast, people laughing at the stadium name( that one doesnt really bother me) nad those things are whelans fault, If he really had the clubs interest he would get his cheque book out and spend and some of wafc money on 2-3 decent players, one of those a striker, yes we are the cheapest team to watch, but it didnt have to be that way if he hadnt put season ticket prices up as high as he did after our first season in the prem, lost a lot of fans that season as well,
