Club must be a bit worried as I’ve just had an e-mail (so called) from Martinez calling for support, no doubt that has gone out to everbody on the database.
When I saw a personal message from Roberto Martinez in my inbox I thought he had finally got back to me about my proposed place on his coaching team
Have to wonder what Di Santo would actually do at Liverpool though…?He’s got nothing on Sturridge or Suarez – plus they’ve got other strikers who are probably on par, if not better than him.
If he did play, the Scousers wouldn’t be quite as understanding as us Wigan fans.
We see the work he does off the ball and applaud him for it.
The Scousers would just jump on his back as soon as they realise he isn’t going to score them goals on a regular basis (..which he won’t) and he’d soon disappear.Moving to West Ham would just be a pointless, sideways move for either Figs or Di Santo – but I guess money talks in football.
I agree with all of that.
When Allardyce was talking about Figger he said this – “When you look at what he’s done at Wigan – and like everyone else he’s refused to sign a contract – there will be a lot of clubs interested in him.”
It makes me sick to the stomach to think him and Porno Gold will be rubbing their hands together at the thought of picking up Di Santo, Figz, Alcaraz and Mcmanaman on a free.
But to be honest if I was them that is exactly what I would do.
He will be used to replace tired legs towards the end of games because he does chase and hassle players but that is all he does really ! Connor Salmon was keen but couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo and Di Santo is not much different in my view ! If it is goals that we need then I would rely on the youngster from Utd over Di Santo !
The difference between Di Santo and Sammon? Di Santo is a Premier League player!
I thought that he struck up a good understanding with Kone. As I said, I think he is competing for a place with Gomez, not Kone. And I think we will be glad to see his skills again before the season ends.
At Fulham; Kieran Richardson produced an excellent piece of defending when he slid in to deny Di Santo in the penalty area after a storming run forward from James McCarthy, before Maloney shot at the Fulham goalkeeper.
Di Santo, with an exquisite piece of skill, then flicked the ball up and volleyed on the turn but his shot went narrowly wide.
However, Wigan grabbed the goal their play deserved when a quickly taken free-kick allowed Di Santo to cut in from the left-wing, run unchallenged to the edge of the penalty area and blast the ball past Schwarzer for his first Premier League goal since 6 October.
Di Santo had a chance to claim all three points when he again ran at the Fulham defence, created some space and fired a low shot from 12 yards which Schwarzer did well to push wide.
At Reading; Figueroa had not scored a top-flight goal for almost two years but the Honduras left-back was celebrating after firing through Federici’s legs following a clever one-two with Di Santo.
He should play in midfield then if he is that good because his strike rate is piss poor ! Dont be fooled by all that running around ! ;)
By the way, which Prem club would pay decent money for him and pay him a decent wage ? ;)
I reckon Brendan Rodgers rumoured interest has some truth in it.
He has come on leaps and bounds in his time here and while it wont be the end of the world I will be sad to see him go.
If I had to put money down I would say Di Santo and Figgeroller are on their way to West Ham.
You never fail to get me to bite at an argument with you despite my best attempts not to.
Its was 14 league goals actually.
And yes I consider that a f**k ton for as you say a left winger who cost approx 700K.
Any more than that and you have a serious player on your hands.
Plus I think its finally time for you to take your 1980’s 4-4-2 glasses off before you come down with a full blown case of Alex Mcleish syndrome.
He never was a left winger he linked up as a third striker as does the likes of Young for Man U.
No Tylders all the players dont fit into your little Championship Manager boxes.
While you’ve got me on one – it said further up here somewhere about N’Zogbia not being good at defending or crossing a ball…. someone needs to tell the majority of strikers in the PL they are going about this sh*t the wrong way!!!
And for the love of god what are you papping on about being worse than the Chimbonda transfer. That is for all intensive purposes utter bollox.
There you go I hope you are happy my arse has been seen and I am taking my toys home.
My, my, you have got your knickers in a twist haven’t you?? ;)
1) The cockneylatic stats archive shows him getting 13 goals that season (Forest – H, Millwall – H, Derby – A, Crewe – H, , Stoke – A, PNE – H, Gillingham – H, Sheff Utd – A, Watford – H, BHA – A, Forest – A, PNE – A, Reading – H). Unless I’m missing one that I just can’t see despite having looked at it God knows how many times then blame their incorrect stats!! ;)
2) Like I said that was 1 season out of 6. He didn’t get more than 6 in any other season albeit 2 were in the top flight
3) I refer to him as a left winger as that is how Paul Jewell referred to him numerous times in interviews & it’s also where Lee McCulloch referred to himself playing several times too. You’d best have a word with them & tell em they were wrong
4) What has N’Zogbia got to do with my opinion that I felt Lee McCulloch was over-rated??
5) Chimbonda’s sin was to hand in a transfer request, still in his kit, in the changing room straight after the game. Not the nicest thing a player has ever done but I never saw it as the great crime of the century. Not sure what difference it would have made had he waited till the next day but there you go. Lee McCulloch handed in a transfer request whilst Latics were in the middle of a relegation battle months after signing a new contract citing “family reasons” & didn’t feel that the club & manager who had helped make him into a club his boyhood hero’s wanted were worth repaying by him staying to help us get out of the relegation mess & then him leaving in the summer. By his own admission he kicked up “a hell of a stink” to try & force the club to sell him and that his performances suffered as a result.
Do i think all that is worse that what Chimbonda did? Yes I do
Me… knickers in twist??? Never ;)
I’m going to bow out now the numbered points are out but the last I will say on the subject is you don’t seem to rate McCulloch or Ellington going off our talks so thank flip you were not manager or we wouldn’t be where we are today!
I would say Rodallega to throw a spanner in the works.
He is probably not the most overrated player in terms of Latics fans perception but thanks to a few snazzy match of the day goals everyone outside the club thought he was a world beater.
If truth be told the closer he got to the goal the worse his finishing would be.
Underrated? Jordi Gomez – I can see where the frustrations come from but he can score or create a goal out of nothing.
I couldn’t for the life of me understand why he was rated so highly by so many.
The f**k ton of goals he scored in our promotion season would be a start.
The “f**k ton” of goals?? His contribution was invaluable no doubt, but is 13 a “f**k ton” of goals at that level?? Certainly not close to Roberts & Ellington that season.
Plus that was 1 season out of the 6 & a bit seasons he was at Latics. In the others he never got more than 6.
Lacked pace, regularly used to drift into the middle, regularly used to seem to forget to track his man back, didn’t have the skills to create much for his team mates to score from & even the manager who got teh best out of him said on numerous occasions that “for all the will in the world he isn’t a left winger”
So like I said, not denying he was an important player for Latics on their rise up the leagues & even once we got to the top flight (they all were), just that IMO for his all round contribution I feel he was over-rated by teh Latics faithfulI also thought the manner in which he openly admitted trying to force Latics to sell him was disgusting & (again IMO) worse than what Chimbonda did but that’s another debate altogether
Over-rated – In the past: Lee McCulloch. In the present: James McCarthy
Under-rated – In the past: Phil Hughes. In the present: James McArthurDid I see someone mention Ray Woods as over-rated & that he only had 1 decent game???? I must have been watching a different Ray Woods then coz in that season where he’d overcome his injury problems Ray Woods was the main reason we looked so good going forward & was the reason why Don Page suddenly started banging goals in. I don’t think it was any coincidence that when he left Latics form dipped & Don Page’s goals dried up – think the CockneyLatic mag at the time described the sale as “taking away Don Page’s right leg”
[insert standard disagreement opening for Tyldsley here]
You’re calling Super Lee and James McCarthy overated and then picking at someone elses choice?
Glass houses and all that !
Lets just win it and be done with it B)
The Daily Mail – spreading the good news.
Pretty much a carbon copy of the Mcmanaman tackle and while I think Macca was lucky not to get a red the lynching of a 21 year old was pathetic.
However its Ashley Westwood’s 22nd birthday today.
GET HIM BANNED!

As long as that rent cheque is paid on time every month I am happy.
Ground staff have done a wonderful job all season.
I think they are allowed an off day , everyone else at the club seems to get one ;)
You can see Chelsea falling down the league now cant you.
Still I think our chances would be best against Chelsea rather than the fire power of Man City providing we don’t give Mata the sort of time on the ball he had today.
What a player he is.
On a side note Man U fans on my facebook make our fickle fans look like die hards.
One of them wants a refund on his half season ticket, one is calling for that south american Valencia to be sent back ha and Nani should be fired out of a cannon.
I actually agree with the last one he must get worse every time I see him play.
I think this will be a very hard game.
Norwich are no pushovers, and they will be thinking a win for them will secure another season in the PL.
Yes, he does have ankle trouble but he seemed perfectly fit to me the last time I saw him ! We shall see. :huh:I know you have a reputation for leaving games early but I hope you are aware he has come off injured in the last 2 games
