As a moderator of this board it has come to my attention that people have recently been making sensible posts that are being agreed with by other posters.

This must stop immediately. We have a tradition to uphold.

      ;)

For crowds – how are we 54th out of 50?

Thought he did a display of keepie-uppie at half time?

I saw McKay the other day for the Development Squad.

Trust me (though God knows why you should) Fortune brings more to the table. McKay reminds me of Boselli. Runs around into space, but often space that isn’t viable for a pass. He didn’t go and get the ball and “make things happen”.

What I have come to the conclusion is that we need the players who “fed” Boselli or McKay or whoever so they could poach their goals. The people who can set up the chances.

Yes. Its a league of greed, where the rich get richer. Its a league where there are only 2 potential winners, and only 6 clubs that realistically stand a chance of making the top 4. Its a league where 8 clubs start the season with expectations of a European spot and 12 clubs start with survival the only target.

Its a league that is full of foreign merceneries that come over for a big pay-day, then use their foreign agent to angle for another big money move before their contract is up.

Its a league that stifles youth development, from the largest to the smallest. Man City haven’t had a youth team player come through since Micah Richards. Sorry to bring it up, but during your 8 years, not a single youth team player made it through to the first team.

Its a league that doesn’t give a toss about fans, and will happily re-schedule games at short notice to suit their tv paymasters, even if it means that the fans of both clubs have no ability to get home via public transport.

Its a league full of average players earning sums of money in a month that a soldier earns in a career. The likes of Steven Fletcher (7 goals in 2 years) spending a month’s wages on his new £200,000 car epitomises everything that is wrong with modern day football.

To put it into perspective, I’ve spent most of my working life with men and women who received just over £10 per day as a “bonus” for the privilege of being shot at, bombed, rocketed on a daily basis for 6 months in Afghanistan and Iraq.

As a follower of a club whose PL existence is under threat on an annual basis, do I care if they get relegated? Answer – Not really, as I’m utterly sick of it, and what its done to English football.

              Agree with all of that

                I agree, JR.

I still recall fondly Villa’s response (after they had conceded shedfuls in the two previous games) to our “how shit must you be, we’re winning away”, with “how shit must you be, you’ve only scored two”.

                Self-deprecation greatly defuses any impact.

The problem this season was our own success in that the football season extended two weeks into Summer because of the play-offs, and rugby had a game in August. It is likely the groundstaff will have longer to get the pitch in better condition than they had last Summer. Just a few weeks can make a lot of difference in getting the grass to knit together.

Views of just about everyone I spoke to last night (in other words real people outside this cloistered environment) are of the opinion that Boycey is now yards too slow.

Fact is a manager who says we should be scoring then doesn’t play strikers who can score is as thick as pig shit.

I’ve just been to watch the Development Squad and so have actually seen Billy McKay play.

He is not the Messiah. I think Fortune provides more overall to be honest.

When his name is read out he will get a round of applause from me.

Anyone who doesn’t clap him is a cock and should go and support someone else.

There’s a difference between a polite clap and “cheering him”

Don’t usually go in after the game, but need to hang around about an hour tonight. :)
