Not sure the wages would necessarily have to be reduced again for that result.
Our “stars” would have perhaps accepted one season at reduced wages, with the prospect of getting back into the PL, and believing that may be a better option for them than moving elsewhere where they would have been benchwarming.
But come a second season at the (same) lower rate then they would as you say want to be off.
Obvious total fabrication as everyone here knows that we have been making huge profits from the sale of players which Whelan has stuck in his back pocket. Running costs can’t be counted as they would represent a possible place where the money could have been spent, and the profit we have made needs to be spent wildly on buying [insert name of striker of choice].
The fact that our club will at least be financially viable whatever happens should be vigorously resisted as an argument, and possibly even derided.
I’ve told the tale before but many years ago when I was stewarding a night rugby match I was walking past the Red Robin going to the stadium when a couple of guys in cherry and white hoops came up and said “do you know anywhere around where the game’s on?”
I pointed to the stadium (a bit puzzled) and said “there”.
“No. On telly” they said. Not one of the great talents, but he cannot be accused of not being bothered like a number of recent players. Not a bad player per se, but just not really PL level. I think he’ll be an asset coaching.
In this league.last ten games make the difference at either end of the table.thats what my heads telling me. ;)I suspect we may be leaving our promotion push a little late this season though
(GL – As an HR Bod, think “Employee Engagement”, and exactly how long a company can rely on blind loyalty from its workforce whilst shafting them with T&C)But we’re not employees, are we? We are tied by a greater bond.
The mon who doesn’t care about attendances ……..I don’t think you’re correct there ;)
A lot of people renewed their ST for this season on the back of a narrow play-off exit and an FA Cup semi-final defeat after a magnificent defence of the trophy. Even so, average crowds this season have slipped almost 20% to 12410 from last seasons’ 15176.Even if you do stay up, what is there to persuade them to renew for next season?
Loyalty to our club, no matter what?
Because a manager from Brentford is bound to do well
I really noticed tonight the number of people who were chatting to me and each other, even those who normally just nod a greeting. We seem to have got back to earlier times where the JCLs have gone back to supporting whoever they used to, and we are left with a (fairly miserable, I’ll agree) bunch of loyal supporters who are starting to recognise each other.
I’m not at all saying that people who didn’t go tonight for one reason or another aren’t loyal, but I think if you came out on a Tuesday night to watch that against Cardiff, then the vast majority will be back next season no matter what division.
The cameraderie has a feelgood factor perversely about it.
When we finish a game with a centre-back playing centre-forward, when we have a striker on the bench and only used 2 subs, well …………
They will be sadly missed. Who?
Not totally predictable, Roy.
He hasn’t accused me of nicking his hubcaps yet.
Here’s me thinking you were an LFC supporter.Oh dear.
And here was me giving you the benefit of the doubt.
I have actually supported you from people who were thinking you were a trolling bell-end. Seems I shall have to rethink my strategy.
Injuries on the pitch are not completely bad luck. Being in peak condition minimises risk of injury. So backroom staff being on the ball can reduce risks of injury. Which brings us back to ….
