I think we can bask in our win without bothering at all what followers of a different sport think
I’ll tag this comment on here –
for anyone who went today – how fat were those Warrington supporters at the services – I thought it was just Warriors who were chubbies? :woohoo:
I was there too, and I’ve seen a lot worse
I noticed quite a few gaps in their crowd, particularly as I’d expected them to sell out. Not to mention that (obvioulsy) there were gaps in our end that must have reduced the attendance also.
And for the last five minutes their end seemed very empty! :cheer:
i remember him well, wasn’t a bad keeper for us but what are peoples predictions for tomorrow. iam sorry but iam not going for ” oh its their first home game in the prem and thet’ll be up for it” bollocks, we are an established premier league team we should be going there and running the show, anything but a win will be a poor do.and if we get beat i hope bob doesn’t come out with ” we showed good character and we were brave because thats starting to wear a bit thin with me 2-1 laticsI’m hoping it will be like when we went to Hull and won 5-0.
“Welcome…to the Premiership…welcome…to the Premiership…”
First former player to manage against us isn’t he?Paul Jewell with Derby?
Perhaps we should insist like American baseball that teams have their name on the shirts. :cheer:
Did you know, by the way, that baseball uniforms have the name of the city on the “road uniforms” but the nickname (eg Yankees) on the “home uniforms”?
Harder than it looks.
I got 44 and I think I know kits – the time goes really quickly and one of the biggest struggles is to remember who is actually in the league these days. :)
I went to the Dell many years ago. It was a great ground. The “chocolate boxes” were unique – double-deck open terracing. And the other end (I won’t call it the “away end” as terraces and stands weren’t particularly designated that then) was tiny a la Torquay.

“Moses isn’t a one-trick pony, he’s a show pony; he has all the tricks and flicks that make him look a blinder on Match Or The Day, but for every bit of brilliance he shows, there are another half dozen times that he elects to dribble and loses the ball instead of passing, or he ambles back, uninterested, allowing his opposite number free rein.”
Exactly – I hadn’t been able to put it into words, but that’s it.
MAtch of the Day (unless it’s Alan Hansen lamenting someone’s poor defence) only focusses on the positives – what someone does. It doesn’t zoom the camera in on him walking slowly around, or not putting a jog on to try and get the ball in midfield.
We, who can see the whole of the pitch, week in week out, can see that. And get frustrated by it. Good luck to him. I believe Chelsea reserves are in the new Elite Development League. He’ll develop well there. Perhaps.
I’m going to Ikea in Southampton
Personally i don’t think we will be in the market for another winger. No – we’ve got loads of them already on here and at times they really get on my…
…Hang on – did you say whinger?
I was stood next to Paul Jewell that day – he was livid.
Are you Chris Hutchings really George ;) ;) ;) ;)[/quote]
No – Graham Poll
The problem with the Ayatollah was that he was obviously unhappy being with us, wanted to move on and hadn’t really been putting a shift in for a while.
Come the Cardiff game when their fans started applauding him (which our fans (and management) took to imply that they could see he wasn’t really trying that hard) started to annoy people. Then we he did the Ayatollah in acknowledgement of their chants and applause that was just too much.
He wasn’t signalling to a few mates, he seemed to be saying that he didn’t want to be with us and that he was a Cardiff lad at heart.
He left in February 2002 to Tranmere, where to our great delight he got sent off against us at Prenton Park in September of that year.
Simon Haworth was frustrating.
He scored some great goals if he didn’t have time to think and just react instinctively. But if he had time to think he went to pieces.
And then to prove that he really was a Bear of Little Brain he left in the circumstances he did. “Doing the Ayatollah” while in a Latics shirt was unbelievable. I was stood next to Paul Jewell that day – he was livid.
