Because, Phil, it was not the plan beforehand. We created chances in the first half but spurned them. A goal or two then would have completely changed the dynamics of the game.
But as we got to 10 minutes from the end it became clear that one goal either way would swing it. We didn’t go into the game wanting a 0-0 draw, but at that point accepted that may have been the best option – take the point and get the monkey off our backs of a losing run.
As for the fact they would never have nicked one. There is always the chance that a mistimed tackle will give away a penalty, or a deflection will defeat the keeper. I know we often use the phrase “will never score if they play till whenever” but that’s not always the case.Kindle

Did anyone else notice our players time wasting and running the clock down in injury time? What the fuck is all that about? It’s about ensuring we didn’t risk another loss.
We have had a run of 4 defeats – that needed to stop.
We all of course would have loved Will to tuck away a 94th minute winner; but there was a risk of them nicking one.
So we have got the proverbial monkey off our backs now for Wednesday night. If we had gone into that with 5 losses then there would be all sorts of problems. At very best we would have shut up shop for the whole 90 minutes.
As it is we’ve broken that spell, and can now press on.9310

You could always take in a lower league fixture this weekend.Sunderland v Wycombe, 3pm at the Stadium of Light…
Atherton Colls v Droylsden
St Helens Town v Carlisle City
or even
Charnock Richard v 1874 NorthwichMarcelo Bielsa is known worldwide as a football genius and has wrote coaching manuals on the subject. Paul Cook is a relatively inexperienced coach in comparison and may never develop such knowledge. He has spent hardly a penny this summer but has turned Leeds into a struggling mid table club to one top of the table.Players’ willingness to track back has nothing to do with writing coaching manuals.
The players couldn’t be bothered at that point and were just stood watching.
That’s not about coaching – that’s about giving them a bloody great kick up their backsides to put some effort in. -
