can’t remember when mike dean last ref’d us?????
15 Oct v Bolton
Southport fans kept shouting ” Yellows yellows ” and the Fleetwood fans were shouting for ” reds ” !!
Oh dear! :P
My understanding is that play commences when he strikes the ball, not when the referee blows his whistle. When did the referee indicate that”Bendtner’s corner” could be taken – that won’t have been included in the 1.8 seconds. I may be wrong.
Edit: Found it –
Law 14 which deals with the penalty kick: “The ball is in play when it is kicked and moves forward”
Page 43 of http://ar.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/generic/81/42/36/lawsofthegame_2011_12e.pdfThey’re actually not all like angels. I watched Crawley at Southport last year and they were as cheating, diving, referee-surrounding as any team I’ve seen in the PL. They got a Southport player sent off after 10 minutes for two yellows.
I agree that the way the game is played is different in the lower leagues (saw Accrington-Aldershot a month or so back) and some games are entertaining and I do like going to them. But take off the rosy specs – some of the games are also dire
Never did rate that Jason Kudos
For punts on highly rated lower league players, I refer you to Jason Koumas, Jason Scotland, Marlon King, Caleb Folan, David Cotterill, and David Graham. If they’re banging ‘em in against Stevenage, Brentford, Carlisle etc, it doesn’t mean they’ll do the same against Premier League clubs, and they tend to cost more than their foreign counterparts.
Connor Sammon was spot on in the SPL, and I remember Aghahowa was touted as someone who knew where the goal was.
Griff – I worked with Dave at both Brocol House and Griffin House. Despite what you read in the Daily Mail, although the Department will have nominated him (and hence the award citation quotes the Department) there has to be “something else” – not just long service (unless you’re in the higher echelons of course).
This is usually some form of community involvement, so I am absolutely sure that the award will have reflected or been “boosted by” his involvement in local football.
So when you both worked at Griffin House which one of you was Griff’s butler ?[/quote]
:cheer:
I went to Southport last year and they’ll drag you off the streets to get you in.
They don’t give them for pushing pens, Griff. I pushed a pen for many years and doubled it up with walking briskly holding piece of paper.
I never got one. :P

I’d take 3 points on both monday and Tuesday if we could swing itOf course we can – we have lots of friends in high places in the Premier League – don’t we?
Top ammy league ref. Used to do the round up for the ammy leagues in the local rags. He reffed a final of a cup at Robin Park that I played in many years ago. Did the programmes for the game and honoured me with being the ‘one to watch’ on our side and referring to me as a ‘cultured striker’. I’m sure he got me mixed up with someone else :dry:Was also linesman when Man Utd and Arsenal had the infamous 20 odd man brawl in the late 80s.
That’s the one. His defence at the hearing about the Man U-Arsenal brawl was that he was watching the keeper :)

I think there could be a twist in the tale
