Colin Methven was born in India. Weren’t black though.
Thanks, Yosser.
Of course they may not even qualify as it’s Qatar who qualify as hosts. UAE have been in the finals before, but didn’t progress too far. Can’t see much on the horizon for them at international level.
Does that mean all the seats are nearly sold – people are saying “I might buy one”? ;)
The draw will give some of our newer fans the chance to experience this:

I’ve only had a very quick glance at this but this quote hit me in the eye:
The depressing truth is that Sam will receive more mentions in the national media due to his participation in a meaningless exhibition game than he has over his whole career winning trophies and performing for his national team.
That both saddens and angers me no end.
Maybe that’s because rugby union is a bigger sport than rugby league?
Maybe no-one cares what trophies he has won in a second-rate sport?
Learn to deal with it people, we are the 20th best team in the Football league
Precisely – remember once (well, a few times actually) we were 92nd. Or even when we were 100 and something.
Have you ever read Patrick Collins before?
The day I start taking notice of his opinion is the day I become King of Brazil.
Despite all that happened yesterday at the DW, we do need to remember that referees are human and feel the pressure too:
It’s like those theatre reviews that used to say something like “brilliant – The Observer” when actually the article said “Some plays are brilliant, some are average and some are dire – this was one of the latter”
Agree with all of the above – a really encouraging performance spoiled by a few individual lapses which cannot be factored in to planning.
The point about playing against 10 men – it is really difficult to break down ten because they retreat into their shells more, and rely on the break. I know this is a “I was there” moment – but remember how hard Bristol Rovers were to break down when Kevin Lynch sent half their team off? They don’t lose people from the defence, they withdraw front runners. In fact even to the point of over-compensating at the back. That’s why it is never a walk in the park against teams who are a man or two light.
My only criticism of this was when at one point they were temporarily down to nine when one was off being treated why did we dawdle about with a free kick in our own half instead of getting it forward to try to use the advantage?
I am realistic enough to know and recognise that our chances of survival are reducing, but that doesn’t move me to the Darkside. I fully expect us to see an improvement – whether it’s enough I don’t know. But I’ll take what positives I can ;)
Two things from what you’ve just said: the defence had turned off, but they hadn’t believed that it had been played. They were waiting for the corner to be taken. Maybe they should be switched on more, but when they see Pedersen trotting over to (as they believe) take the corner they then don’t expect him to suddenly charge forward with the ball.
And if it was Gomez’ goal what does it matter where Sammon was – he was presumably deemed to not be interefring with play if he was actually in an “offside position”
Not at all sure how you blame Martinez for that. Individual player errors.
What I want to know is…
… how’s junglejungle and his mate with the big head doing these days?
