As much as I hate to give credit to anything Klump related, I think their marketing men have managed a bit of a coup here.

Mickey Rourke is currently making a film about this chap, so any publicity when the film comes out will have some kind of Wigan involvement. It’ll give them a bit of the publicity they crave and give ammunition to amateur propogandists like Mutty.

I thought that but the film is about his UNION days for wales and when he came out (so to speak), i’d be surprised if it had any reference to league apart from at the end of his ‘career’…..

Don’t be shocked if it goes straight to dvd…….like yanks, which is the biggest market along with bollywood, are at all interested in a yorkshire village game……if they don’t understand football, sorry soccer, then they will not have a clue about the eggs

Gay welsh bloke can’t get a contract in the far superior union so he goes to the much inferior league

very good publicity           [/quote]

    From the chubbie.com website

The script as already had encouraging feed back in hollywood.

Highly unlikely. I remember back in the 90s the wrestler Davey Boy Smith signed for the WWF (as it was then) & he was billed as being from Manchester as no americans had heard of Wigan. The same thing is still happening today with other wrestlers/sport stars.
I’m not convinced they have even heard about Rugby Union either.

    :text-goodpost: JR & a cracking read.

So by your thinking, Goosey it was impossible to play the game because the ground, Central Park, which had 4 stands could not possibly have segregation put in hmmmm bit flawed that idea dont you think? Surely it would have been possible to give the Liverpool fans one of the side stands, with the upper seating area & then a line of policemen/stewards on either side to stop Latics fans going into the lower half of said stand?

By the way you’re being brave coming on here after your beloved Sunderland got beat by lowly Brighton last night.
All that money he spent, Spudyed wont last till Xmas.

in reply to: Q.P.R kick off moved!!!! #69987

Seriously Goosey are you really THAT stupid??

Let me spell it out for you, Latics have moved the game to EARLIER in the day, NOT to the day before or day after. :angry-banghead:

What difference will moving the game make to our attendance? None, those who want to go to Wembley will have left earlier in the day.
No one not even Dave Whelan can make Wigan to Wembley in 5mins. :angry-banghead:

Sunderland are on a suicide mission. They have bought 10 players this summer alone. Either Spudyed has pics of Niall Quinn with ladyboys in a hotel room or the board have completey flipped.
To get some sort of return on this summers outlay alone will require at least an FA Cup win or a place in Europe. Neither of which are likely to happen.

SSN are running the banner saying the football league will decide tomorrow if Saturdays games will go ahead. If they pull out then the Premier League will be forced to as well. All police resources will be used in Liverpool & Manchester. Even Scotland are sending down reinforcements.

I hear that there was trouble at Robin Park last night.

Runours there were about 3000 people looking for Chairman Dave’s warchest !

Is there really that many people on the Darkside?? :o

in reply to: Don’t panic #69790

Rumour has it the scum of Wigan have started to loot now

    Nothing new there then.

God those pics are depressing :-(

in reply to: riot possible in wigan #69788

It has been confirmed that Wigan Town Centre & R.P. are both very quiet :D

Update, 2210hrs: Police are dealing with an incident near to Aldi, Wigan.

       Bicky

Back to the OP. Rumour has it that all buses have been taken off the streets of Wigan & that there is a ring of steel around the town centre. Dont know how true this is though.

in reply to: Don’t panic #69784

Rumour has it the scum of Wigan have started to loot now :angry-cussing:

The town centre is rumoured to have been closed down & all buses have been recalled.

Scary sh1t if it is true.

Forgive me for not knowing the exact details but I am sure that last season McManaman & Nicholls played in the senior squad, it may have been in the cup but none the less they still played for the 1st team.

Oh & if you think playing Under 21s is making it you are more deluded than most of us first thought.

For your information in the last 20yrs (Since Sky invented football) there have only been 4, YES 4, players to reach the top after starting in a clubs youth set up & staying with that club to win trophy after trophy as well as represent a home nation.
Gary Neville & Ryan Giggs have won every domestic trophy as well as the Champions League trophy & represented their respective countries.
Jamie Carragher & Steven Gerrard are the other 2 who have won every domestic/european trophy (Bar the Premier League)
Those players have MADE IT! :greetings-cya:

I suggest you read the question it says the VERY top. Gary Walsh didnt represent England at Senior level.
He only made 50 appearences for United, in 4 seasons then went out to such sides as Oldham & Bradford. Not exactly the pinnacle of his career. :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead:
