Done :)
Good article and as Sanctuary says ‘about time’.
I quite liked the part about the size of your crowd not mattering one bit as to what league you play in.
Its about time. It would be quite hilarious if in the entire first season of use there was no instances where it would be needed.
A defeat maybe, but further proof we do indeed have a history
..for Saturday by watching the goals from the win over Everton.
I think its a sad reflection on modern day football that survival is more important than cup glory. Yes i can understand the reasons why. But as a kid watching latics in the lower divisions especially when we played leeds in the quarters, i could only dream that & to quote the classic 1987 FA cup song “we are the latics:”‘one day we’ll be at wembley winning the FA cup’.
Does anyone have a copy of this they could stick on youtube?
EDIT – Found one
Back on topic ;)“Even the figure sold compares favourably with the numbers Super League giants Wigan Warriors could expect to sell for a Challenge Cup final.”
THAT’S IT. I’M BOYCOTTIN TH’INDEPENDENT.
On a serious note, that comment will aid me in the current debate I’m having over on RLFANS.
I did well to dodge that bullet you’re right.
Think this what at the Joseph’s Goal night on Tuesday. All was going well and we were being an insight into the squads mentality ahead of Saturday when some guy decided to state his dislike for Maggie.
You still managed it though
I know some mad football stuff, considering I’m only 36!
ABL, I thought you reckoned Thatcher stopped your milk when you were 6. That must have been in the early 70s ……… yet you’re only 36 ?
[/quote]It was 1971 apparently which would make him 48 now if he was 6 then.
If they park the bus as QPR did on Sunday or like Bournemouth and Bradford did at the DW, we may struggle to break them down and get caught on the break. Thats my fear. We’ll have loads of posession I’m sure of that but we’ll need to make it count.
Most of our attacks come down the left and unfortunately in Beaujesour we have the only wide player in the PL who can’t beat a man.I think the only decent cross from that side last Sunday was from Gomez when he got wide.
We need an early goal to make them open up.
Then we can exploit the space and beat them easily.
I’m on Mastermind next week. Specialist subject – The Bleeding Obvious !! ;)
You must be after me then as I said the exact same thing on here ;)
Who was there from the BBC? They’ve quoted Mathias almost perfectly:
When Wigan partied like it was 1999. . .
Ray Mathias, who was Wigan’s boss when they beat Millwall 1-0 in the 1999 Football League Trophy, will be at Wembley on Saturday hoping his former club can repeat their feat of 14 years ago.
“I’ve seen Millwall a few times this season and I can assure you it won’t be an easy game,” Mathias said. “You can’t forget the Millwall supporters. They’re very highly strung and they always give their team fantastic support, which makes it very difficult for the opposition.”
