The new images on the side of the stadium look good.
He won’t be the last I don’t think. These players will have been looking for a way out since the pay issues started.
Danson may well create sporting club Wigan and sit all 3 as companies under that umbrella company. He could keep them ll separate. Time will tell.
Correct, because they knew they wouldn’t sell the club without the stadium so they combined them. Didn’t have to as they didn’t with Euxton or the chippy. If we didn’t have Christopher Park then they’d have never sold Euxton.
Prior to that … They weren’t, they were two separate companies.
Did Latics own JJB Sports or DW Sports? No, they were two different companies owned by the same individual.
Couldn’t care either way, but that was how begbies explained it to me during admin.
Legally the football club owned nothing. The same individual owned them all however.
Makes sense business wise and allows you to move money around you may not be able to move around otherwise. As mutty says, from your left pocket to your right pocket.
I mean, Newcastle don’t own LIV golf do they, but the same people own both.
And that is what I suspect will happen again unless the council amend the lease.
It was never listed as an asset though (it is now) it was a separate entity owned by the same people that owned the football club under an umbrella company Wigan Athletic Holdings.
They owned 5 businesses, 2 of which were sold off in admin neither of which were owned or an asset of WAFC legally.
Danson will keep us within our means and spend sensibly. Fans may not like it if we start to stagnate in L1, but the financial future is more than secure.
As for the stadium, it doesn’t really matter who owns it in all honesty when the owner owns both clubs, however I suspect that it will become it’s own legal entity as it was before Whelan sold to the Chinese.
It was those owners that turned up shouting and screaming for us to be punished. Now we know why.
The “ownership debate” will all depend on how MD decides to manage the stadium. He may keep the lease solely in the name of WAFC or he may give each club equal share. I suspect he will do whichever suits him best financially. I also suspect that IL may soon have a seat on the Latics board and the two clubs will work closer together than they ever have.
Of course, both sets of fans will just come up with which ever story makes them feel better and will each write their own versions as they’ve done for 40+ years so it won’t bring the two closer together in that sense.
Danson already owns 25% (49 if you believe some people) of the rugby. He and IL work well together.
Sorry to burst that bubble LHL.
I think the stadium will look nice with all red seats
Anyway…what charity would you like your £20 going to?

In the comments with the donation, use the words “Egg – Cockney Lactic”.
Done. I’ve put the comment you said, but not sure where it shows
I just heard a rumour Tel Al is trying or in the process of gathering a consortium of investors to take over the club.
It might be bollox so don’t shoot the messenger but it might make sense to the silence right nowSo a business deal that can’t be discussed in public then?
It’s their club because they own it.
The players want to know when they’re getting paid – that’s their PERSONAL AND PRIVATE conversation to have. Same with the staff.
I will give you the information around the future of the club, but aside from “we will continue to own the club and pay the bills” I don’t expect them to tell us anything else and if they do then it’s a bonus.
I appreciate the fans want information and it is of course something much more passionate than 90% of other businesses, but we aren’t entitled to know everything.
When a player is injured or not being picke dthen we have no right to know why. The club sometimes tell us, sometimes they don’t. Their choice to make.
This one is slightly different as the future of the club is something we all want to know, but again apart from “we’re committed” we don’t have a right to know the details of what they plan to do etc etc. We certainly don’t have the right to know if players are paid or not and how much they’re paid.
I’d like the club to be more open, but I completely understand why they aren’t.
