Im sorry but its far far too late to be talking about this!
We are going to be relegated its as simple as that and no late signings or changes in tactics are going to correct the many many faults that exist within this particular Wigan Athletic team.
We play tippy tappy and give the ball away, dont know how to close games down when we are ahead and switch off during crucial periods in games. Some of the players in our squad are not premier league standard some of them are non footballers-money should have been spent last summer to bring in some quality players!
The Bolton game was this seasons nadir for me personally and if changes had been made after this game and the right person brought in then i think we would have had a fighting chance with correct organisation.
As it stands i think we will go on another eight or nine game losing run now and be sunk by mid march.
sorry to be so negative :(He should have strengthened properly last summer -bit late now to be experimenting with an unproven player.
The club are saying today that they do not need to sell anybody.
I still think Martinez thinks we will get out of it but im in the pessimistic brigade and just cant see it.
Id sell Hugo and Diame now rather than let them go for nowt and if that goes towards a warchest to consolidate out position in the lower league next year then so be it.
That said if as they say we are well fixed then a comfortable season should be had in the 2nd division next season(i still call it that before any smart ass corrects me!) like Blackpool,West Ham and Birmingham are having at the moment!
lets be honest we have stagnated in this league and perenial relegation battles which 12 clubs in the EPl face each season doesnt float my boat anymore. The transfer window is a joke quite frankly!
Nobody is going anywhere then on the last day it goes mad and all manner of panic buying takes place think TORRES and CARROLL both january window signings (85 million quid for that pair ????????? ).
This nonsense should be scrapped with the old system brought back in.
Its about time our utterly rubbish governing bodies told UEFA/FIFA to f@@k off with this stupid process!
Cant see any signings for Latics only departures-id be surprised if Hugo,Diame and Moses are still here next monthBeing Wigan athletic -Our fans are surely the noisiest and biggest p’ss takers in the league.I watched the Swansea(new media darlings-for now anyway!) game this afternoon and it looked like a church congregation.
I am just going to enjoy the rest of the season and hope we can cause an upset tomorrow!I love the club regardless of division and will still be there if as is likely we are in the championship next season.Being in the top flight has been brilliant for the club and its profile and will stand us in good stead foe years to come.Whelan deserves great credit for taking the club so far especially with his modest wealth in comparison to other PL owners!
It would be great to stay up again but i just cant see it and i would be disgusted if so called fans desert the club in droves just because we have slipped down a division.
A football club is for life end of!
Good post goodpost
Whatever anyone thinks of DW i dont think you would be paying £250 for an season ticket if somebody bought the club.
Respect totally to your fans, manager and team-excellent result for you hope you get a big draw today.
Parachute is ready for our freefall! :(On my last legs-not long before i snuff it! :(
Far too late to salvage this train wreck of a season-were done for! :(
This is the worst result since he came to the club they are a TOTAL and UTTER DISGRACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
If teams like Swansea and Norwich come up after buying third division players like Pilkington etc and make a fist of the prem then they must have done.
Loads of cr@p teams in my view and lets keep the faith because i dont thing the fight is over for us just yet!whether he is a wind up man or not the “wigan is a rugby town” cr@p need s ramming home to all and sundry including the RL clowns because it is complete and utter nonsense.
Safc you say Wigan is known as a rugby town-my question is why????????
This drivel is trotted out time and time again as if our poor gates are attributed to the fact that we have a RL club that last attracted big gates in the 1950s and when Latics played in the lower reaches of the non league.
It s like knocking nails into a thick piece of wood so here goes the factsWE LIVE IN THE ENGISH HOTBED OF FOOTBALL AND WE ARE DELUGED BY RIVAL CLUBS WITH BIGGER FANBASES AND HISTORY-6 RIVAL EPL WITHIN 20 MILES(NOT ONE) RADIUS.SUNDERLAND AND NEWCASTLE A HOTBED NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS DESPITE THE MEDIA INDUCED MYTH!
SOME OF OUR TOWNMATES SUPPORT THESE OTHER CLUBS BECAUSE WIGAN IS A VERY COSMOPOLIITAN TOWN WITH PLENTY OF LINKS AND HISTORY WITH LIVERPOOL AND MANCHESTER HENCE WHY THE FOUR CLUBS THERE HAVE BIG SUPPORT IN WIGAN ALWAYS HAVE DONE FOR MANY DECADES!
THE RUGBY LEAGUE HEYDAY HAS PASSED BY ABOUT 25 YEARS DUE TO THE COSMOPOLITAN NATURE OF OUR TOWN AND THE FACT WE ARE BIGGER NATIONALLY AND GLOBALLY
GO INTO ANY PUB IN WIGAN AND THE TALK IS OF FOOTBALL NOT RUGBY LEAGUE-THE TOWN PACKS UP WHEN ENGLAND ARE IN MAJOR TOURNAMENTS-DIDNT SEE THAT AT THE RECENT RL WORLD CUP SURELY THAT WOULD BE THE CASE IN A ‘RUGBY TOWN’ AS YOU PUT IT THAT ALL PUBS AND CLUBS WOULD BE PACKED DURING ‘MAJOR’ RL TOURNIES?
lets hope the above enlightens you a bit but until people start looking at the above factors and realising that ‘rugby town’ doesnt exist and hasnt done for ABOUT 2 decades then we have an almighty battle.
PS READY FOR THE NEXT NAIL!
