I don’t understand our formation to be fair.
Everyone slags off 442, but we play with a target man as a 442 team may do. but we never have another player within 20 yards of the target man.
If we are going to use Moore as a target man, FFS get someone up there to take advantage of that as the lad wins nearly every ball, but there is never any one to flick or lay it off to.
What position or role is Massey supposed to be playing, as it is definitely not a supporting role for Moore?
I really feel sorry for Moore, he works his bollox off, wins everything but has no support at all.Feel sorry for Moore also looked absolutely knackered at the end today, maybe gelhard working with him is the answer.
Or Windyarse or Garner. Moore and Garner would tear this league apart with Pilky and Moore out wide and Williams in the middle with Morsy but not a chance it’s our thing now one striker with five midfielders.
Not sure how that would work Donny. Moore & Garner up front sounds fine. But then throwing Moore out to the wing as well!!!!!!

Agree donny, Moore up front on his tod isn’t working, playing someone with him will give the opposition something more to think about too pradictable at the moment.3 November 2019 at 12:59 am #181771I kind of agree with you both here. I personally do not have a problem with the 1 striker – never have had. However, if cook is insistent on playing the long ball in the hope that Moore’s flick ons will go to a fellow player – which is not the aim of the lone striker role, he does need someone further up top with him. I would go for either Windass or Gelhardt.
3 November 2019 at 1:10 am #181772I think in Keifer we have the modern day Emile Heskey without the foil. Sorry guys but this tactic will never work.

Red Wine!!!3 November 2019 at 3:16 am #181774Gelhardt played a decent ball through for Moore to fuck up but apart from that didn’t really make much impact on game. We were well on top before he came on and we’re no better with him on. If Moores the answer up front I would be tempted to swap him for Kipre or Dunkley as they are probably as ruthless in front of goal.
3 November 2019 at 4:43 am #181775I was told last week by someone who is really ITK within the club and who rarely gets things wrong, that…
“Darren Royle has come out and told people that Paul Cook will NOT be sacked, even if we are relegated, and that he is here for the long run to see things out with the project the owners have”.
Don’t slate me, I’m just sharing what was passed on to me. I am kind of bereft of an emotion or response to it, being honest. But looks like people are wasting their breath…
We played well for 85% of todays game and had the chances, just didnt take them, and paid the price. 5 defenders in our area against 2 attackers…they should never have scored their winner. And Jacobs lost it in their half, we had ample time to defend, but didnt.

I remember in about 1989/90, we signed a young striker called Phil Daley from non league. He went on to do great for us, scored his fair share of goals over 3 or 5 seasons at whats League One level now…considering where he came from, what a great signing really. For peanuts.
In 2019 we have signed a player from league one for 3 million who is really struggling at this level, which is a definite step up these days.3 November 2019 at 11:50 am #181778Gelhardt played a decent ball through for Moore to fuck up but apart from that didn’t really make much impact on game. I would like to see him given a full game tbh, fifteen minutes at the end of a game doesn’t give him a lot of time to settle into the game and show us what he can really do, although it worked for them yesterday. The ball he played through for Moore was excellent, we don’t really have a play maker at the moment, someone to play a decent ball through, maybe he’s the answer.3 November 2019 at 2:36 pm #181781I think in Keifer we have the modern day Emile Heskey without the foil. Funny how every time we sign a striker they don’t score goals or many goals. The majority havn’t ever since the arrival of Roberto years ago. With the odd exception of Will Grigg.
I wonder why?3 November 2019 at 3:11 pm #181785Will Grigg was the exception Donny, as we signed a player who was ever so used to playing as a lone striker. Perhaps we are signing strikers who are not used to playing that role & expecting them to do it.
3 November 2019 at 3:14 pm #181786Or strikers who can’t finish?
3 November 2019 at 4:49 pm #181791Or strikers with little service although Moore had two gilt edges chances yesterday but just didn’t have the pace but to be fair to him he won plenty challenges in the air but the so called attacking mid were miles from behind him.
3 November 2019 at 5:11 pm #181792he won plenty challenges in the air but the so called attacking mid were miles from behind him. This is an area that cook seriously needs to address.
