I think in Keifer we have the modern day Emile Heskey without the foil. Sorry guys but this tactic will never work.
It shows how football has changed, and not for the better at all.
I remember in about 1989/90, we signed a young striker called Phil Daley from non league. He went on to do great for us, scored his fair share of goals over 3 or 5 seasons at whats League One level now…considering where he came from, what a great signing really. For peanuts.
In 2019 we have signed a player from league one for 3 million who is really struggling at this level, which is a definite step up these days.
Funny how every time we sign a striker they don’t score goals or many goals. The majority havn’t ever since the arrival of Roberto years ago. With the odd exception of Will Grigg.
I wonder why?
Except will Grigg struggled in this league too.
3 November 2019 at 5:47 pm #181796Or strikers with little service although Moore had two gilt edges chances yesterday but just didn’t have the pace but to be fair to him he won plenty challenges in the air but the so called attacking mid were miles from behind him. There were enough crosses into the box yesterday but he never gets on the end of them.

I never will like it either.
Its only an option for me when you are in a defensive mode away from home, leading, and trying to shore up the midfield or defence. It originates from Italy when their league was notoriously defensive based.
Our whole game in this country has gone about not letting goals in, rather than scoring. Not the game I loved as a child.
3 November 2019 at 9:31 pm #181802Oh for the days when stood on top of the town end watching the likes of Ian Purdie, Stu Barlow running at defenders crossing quality balls to the likes of Peter Houghton, Mick Quinn, Graeham Jones. When the game was simple yet beautiful. When it was worked out on the pitch instead of the tactics board. When Sir Andrew of Liddell dazzled us with flair. When full backs were defenders Hinnigan, Sutherland and the likes. Fabulous centre halves Arry, De Vos and Peter Atherton.
Not every change is for the better. COYL
