Not sure about borrowed time but people near me harping on about Powell missing.Yes of course we miss him cos he can only improve that crap today but let’s be honest he hasn’t been setting us alight recently …..that’s when he plays !!!….Depends what plans owners have and how near we get to the bootom 3.If there’s money will Cook be allowed to spend it with Royle and co now upstairs.

After Cookies record over the last two seasons in the transfer market it would be hard to imagine him getting his hands on it.
Today’s side that replaced our first teamers were his signings bar a couple.

Brilliant 1st 5 minutes and dreadful for the rest. Why were you changing it after 5 minutes when we were 1 up?

Poor mistakes cost us again, not sure what that has to do with team selections though seeing as they came from our number 1 and the guy everyone is saying is our best CB.

It was Cooks signings on Sharpie budget so come January it will be Cooks signings on a new budget whatever that may be.

There was only one gona win today .we where out played most of the match.every Leeds player look very comfortable on the ball.half of our team are out their depth s in this league. Hurts me saying it but it’s gona be a long hard season.

I suppose it will and he must have one or two mates left who are struggling to get a game somewhere. Accy reserves or Pompey’s bench possibly.
No what I mean is if the players he has brought in up to now are analysed then someone controlling the budget will have to take a long close look at potential players with him because his signings to date albeit budget lead have not been up to much apart from James and Walton.

Interesting period for us this if our new owners give Cook 10 mill in January just as an example what players is he looking at and are are our scouts looking in the right areas?

Well IF he spent 2.5 million (was it that much ?) on Windass, then that would have me nervous for a kick off

He potentially will have a large budget to work with come January which he hasn’t had before, even at previous clubs.
I personally don’t want to see another manager cook cares for our club and I’d love see him given some money to do his job.
Sure all will be revealed when the takeovers finally completed and we get a statement from the new owners.

Maybe that’s what £2.5 million gets you these days.

Roberts was free as he was out of contract as was Gibson and is only on a short term contract.
Our permanent signings seem to all be undisclosed fee so have we actually spent much money and plenty in on loan.

Garner was a reportly 7 figure some which is mind boggling to say the least. Lopez another million. Then Vaghan which is thought to be around 300k along with a similar amount for Cole.
ith Windass costing us another 2.5million I make that to be around the £5.5 million mark spent by Cook and Sharp, in today’s market for a club like Wigan it’s a fair old committment.
I was flabbergasted when we didn’t sell Powell for 8-10 million and now we run the risk that he signs a pre agreement in January to leave next summer for ziltch.
I just hope the new owners invest more time and energy into the youth setup and bring in younger players. I’d sooner see some young un’s blooded rather than the likes of Naismith and Garner both I’d say need to be shipped out in January.

I honestly cannot see Cook been here in the summer if not before. His choice and style of players erases any flare or creativeness out of the current Wigan squad. He focuses purely on hardwork and totally forgets about that adding that bit of sparkle, someone or something to change a game when needed.

Leeds simply outworked for 85 minutes. The 7 on 1 when Windass broke “on his own” says it all. Once that “work hard Wigan” game fails we are left with nothing. I looked at the bench on Saturday and it spoke volumes. Bar Macmanaman (who’s not at his best) it’s worryingly woeful.

Working hard on the pitch will get you results in League One but hard working sides will eventually get found out in the Championship.

I’m sure Cook is a good manager and will gain regular promotions from say League 2 to 1 , league one to Championship throughout his managerial career but that’s about it, that’s his level but is that what the owners want ?. In thier eyes we are one step off the money spinning bright lights of the Premiership and a newly named “The IEC Stadium” with free TV coverage worldwide.

Do you honestly think they will run the risk of us slowly been dragged into a relegation dog fight ?, I very much doubt it and I doubt Cook will be right man in thier eyes to give funding to especially after his track record so far in signing players at Wigan. Far too loyal to certain players for me, far too loyal

In support of Cooky we played with plenty flare, creativeness and hard work last season but this league is a huge step up.
I like many was pretty happy with the signings in August but had doubts about a couple but at least it looked like we had signed players to cover in most positions. Macca, Garner, Evans and Windass sounded great and we had kept Powell.
In reality we would never have expected to be using 4 or 5 players as cover in a match.
This just didn’t happen last season. It may have been a little harder last season if that was the case.

Well Donny, what did Blackburn pay for Dack ? …..(who appears to be doing far, far better than Windass)
