Everybody loved his signings a few weeks ago

Yes most people did, you’re dead right and back in August apart from having cover at left back we did look like we had enough strength in depth to give adequate cover.
As things have panned out most of us were wrong because this poor form and performances has highlighted how piss poor our squad is.
It’s a case of hoping now that three clubs have worse squads than we have.
Just wish we would at least have a go at playing the type of football Cooky promised us back in August.

Errrrrrrrr I don’t think so, 1.4 million for Garner a good signing ?.
2.4 million for Windass who couldn’t hit the side of an aircraft hanger with a space hopper.
0.5million for Vaughan who’s basically bopped around in the lower leagues doing nothing.

Then finally we spend 1 million on Lopez for the future?? This should have been spent on player/s who’ll keep us in the Championship.By the time Lopez is ready we won’t have a fookin future.

That’s not including the signing of Cole 0.4million who we saw no more than a fleeting glimpse before been shipped out on loan along with Walker, more width gone.
And to top it off MacManaman. Has he ran over Cooks dog, cat, hamster, and robbed his wheel hubs ??.
The Cook signings are basically not good enough he’s shipping out of wide players which proves what style of football he likes. If you were the new owners would you support him with funds in Jan after his previous signings and with the freefall form were in ?, I know I wouldn’t similar to Utd were they got rid before he brings in more players not up for the job.

I’ve always said, we have a goal scorer in Grigg but if your going to lump it up to him in the hope he’ll nod it down to himself, skin two centre halfs then run 30 yards and score from off the bench you’ve another thing coming.
And finally, Gibson, why ? were’s MacDonald ? back on the farm ?. I’m sorry but Cooks out his depth. He’s brought in players and played them in a way that isn’t good enough for the Championship.
It doesn’t make him a bad manager it just means he isn’t for us like plenty other managers we’ve had. We should make the change, New year, new start otherwise we’ll go down. You can afford to lose against the top sides but when you can’t beat the sides in and around you you’ve had it.
Whether you like Cook or not it’s time for change. This isn’t panic stations red button sh1t this is about results and the manner of the losses.

It’s difficult to imagine Cook still being here on 2nd January.

It could happen. But that will require us to overcome our awful away form against two quality teams. And now turn around a home losing streak. Pressure games against top teams. But we are in this position because we’ve failed to pick-up the so called winnable points.

In ordinary circumstances a point today would have eased the pressure. But after being 0-2 up, it feels like a defeat. Tuesday a good performance is needed and at least a point. To be honest we are now reaching the stage where we need to be regularly picking up 3pts. The odd point here and there will still see us slip into the bottom three.

If we suffer a comprehensive defeat I could well see IEC pulling the trigger. We are past the point of a dip in form and in full blown crises mode. If they throw money at the problem of course Cook could do the job. I just worry he doesn’t have the answers if he has to continue with a limited squad and an absent Powell.

So who is capable then week in week out of getting results with a limited squad and no powell against sides with 10x+ yhe transfer budget?

When Martinez did it year after year he was deemed to be shit, so who is capable that will play the 442 exciting football that we all so dearly crave?

If the owners want premier league football in 2 seasons, they might just inject a little (but not too much that will put us in debt) more money into the kitty. I cant see them pulling the plug after a handful of games.

Our form went to shit because Cook messed around with the formation and our approach to play once injuries hit. Massey’s pace was a loss but all other positions could have been covered with the existing squad. We are unrecognisable from the team that started the season, irrespective of personnel. The closest we got was when down to ten men against Derby. The shackles came off and we looked better than at any other game these past 2-3 months.

The Premier League is a massive gulf in quality over the Championship. Excellent sides can still be relegated given the resources of the opposition. In the Championship only poor sides go down. There isn’t the strength in depth. The odd season you get an outsatanding side or two, but most can beat each other on their day.

Our form the last few months has us bottom of the league. Below sides like Bolton, Ipswich, Rotherham and Millwall. While the likes of QPR and Hull are now pulling well out of sight. The better managers will learn from their mistakes. When you hit a 2-3 month slump and see no signs of improvement, no signs of adapting, then you have to worry.

But it’s not something you can bet the future of the club on. What we do have to bet on is staying in this division. It’s the only way we can seriously grow commercial & match day revenue and utilise this stadium. Remaining in the top two divisions is also essential to player trading. Decent transfer fees can be garnered, something IEC say is a core part of their business model. That also applies to youngsters coming through the ranks. Many of which are highly regarded at their age group.

Drop down a division and we’ll be forced into a fire sale and risk losing young players for peanuts. We are now very much in a situation where the club needs an injection of cash into the playing squad to stabilise us and ensure future growth.

Well every team after a defeat is usually met with cries for 2 strikers and Im sure several people on the team thread went with 442 whilst donny loves a good 442.

Congratulations on failing to answer my question though

He may not have answered your question but his reply was as good as a response as could have been expected. Even you should acknowledge that! A reasoned riposte if you ask me! Why not add to the discourse instead of coming across as a bigoted, sarcastic, condescending so and so ( Hope that is ok George! ) !

Its all been said before filly.

Our strength in depth will be lacking at this level as we dont have the money or appeal that most clubs have unless we opt to risk the future of the club. We sign players for £1m. Most clubs in this league pay 10x that. Of course we will struggle when we lose players.

Our aim is to stay up and despite a record as poor as we have of late we are still currently on track to do that.

If Cook isnt good enough to succeed on this budget with these injury issues then who is? Bearing in mind we probably camt afford most “big” names

Getting rid of Cook will achieve nothing in my opinion. The players are behind him and are giving everything so I can’t see us having a Man Utd style turnaround just by sacking him.

I keep saying it, but had you offered me this position at this stage then I would have taken it and TBH I’m still confident we will survive.

Last 5 games we are 23rd.
Last 6 games we are 23rd.
Last 10 games we aren’t even in the bottom 3.

How far back we going in regards to recent form?

Either way we are outside the bottom 3 in the actual table which is exactly where we want to be. The sides below us either have to suddenly win 2 or manage 4 draws without us picking up anything to pass us. I know which position I’d rather be in.

I appreciate that we are maybe where we want to be at this present moment but it’s where we are heading that worries me! We all know that once you get into that bottom three things start to get pretty desperate! We have first hand knowledge of this in recent seasons! If things continue the way they are going then I’m afraid that sentiment must go out of the window !

So who replaces him and why is everyone so sure the teams below us will turn their form around (which as eggy says is worse than ours over the last 10 games) but we wont?

It’s not my place to suggest who the next manager is if this terrible run continues! All I know is that if it does continue then the new owners protecting their investment may have to make a decision! Knee jerk? Maybe but managers have been sacked for less, that’s all I’m trying to say! Injuries and excuses aside it is a pretty dismal run that needs to end anon! If he turns it round then of course I will be behind him but at the moment I don’t have too much confidence in him myself! Sorry for being concerned about the club that I support! ;)
