According to Mail today , Figueroa is heading to West Ham at the end of the season after deciding against renewing his Wigan contract when he becomes a free agent in the summer.
Great couple of seasons when her 1st came but no great loss if he goes based on this seasons performances.

Think he’s done better for us as a CB rather than an LB, but not too fussed if he goes.
Thing I don’t get is that the papers are saying this is a done deal, but how can that be if he’s still under contract to us? If it has happened that’s basically tapping up and would unsettle him in our final push.
Strong whiff of more Daily Mail bull5hit methinks.

Surely those two aren’t linked at all?

If his contract is up in June, he is free to speak to people from Jan 1st. So, there is every chance that something has already been agreed.

I actually think that he has had one of his better seasons, this time around.

When players are in the last year of their contract I think they are allowed to talk to other clubs? It’s always a bit disappointing when you lose a player that’s been with us a few years but thats the nature of the game. In fairness he had a decent innings with Wigan and you can understand if he wants a change and to boost his income as he heads towards the latter part of his career. To be honest I always thought he was suspect at defending and in all honesty terrible in the air, surely an essential skill for a defender? (in spite of the way Roberto would like the game played).

Only allowed to talk to foreign clubs after 1st Jan isnt it ? Then domestic clubs 6 weeks from the expiry of the contract. At least thats what it used to be.

Not saying that agents dont get around those rules though

Completey agree with you there, and he also loses his man far too easily.

I’d actually play a fit Ramis, Golobart or Lopez ahead of him.

I’d like him stay but if he does go, it’s not a huge loss.

Out our curiosity, if he does goes then who would you play in that position? or bring in even?

Wouldn’t read too much into this just yet.

West Ham are stalling on a new contract for Allardyce, so they aren’t even sure who their manager will be, next season.

Hows about this for a managerial go-around?

Di Canio to West Ham, Moyes to Bundesliga (Schalke and Werder Bremen interested), Martinez to Everton, Allardyce to…..Wigan?

It could happen. Plus, McLaren is apparently unsettled at FC Twente.

Dunno about the Moyes bit ABL. I think he will stick around here until the Man Utd job crops up. Think people may have been whispering in his ear.

My scenario is, If UTD win the Champions League, Fergie will step aside so Mourinho can take over. If Fergie doesn’t step down, Mancini will be sacked and Mourinho will go to City. Possibly Moyes to Chelsea for the Martinez thing to happen.

Moyes link to a move to Bundesliga is all over Blue Kipper, a major Everton site.

I do fancy Mourinho for United job though. A shoe-in I reckon.

Fergie stated a couple of week ago ABL that he is to keep going another 2 seasons so dont see the chosen one there at all and I just dont see Moyes abroad tho may be wrong. As for Chelsea christ knows coz Abramovich has,nt a clue so it could be anybody.Citeh is the interesting one especially if they lift the FA Cup.I wouldnt gamble anything on Mancini staying or going and as for Bobby he will be here im sure.

                    Martinez to anywhere ???

For me his star and credibility is falling, TV pundits now take the p1ss on his post match interviews, where they loved his positivity in the past, people are beging to question why despite all his pretty football theories we are worse now than when he took over 3 seasons ago and every man and his dog are asking why he can’t organise a defence including latics fans with their roots firmly planted in the lightside.

Despite the undying loyalty shown on here for him not everyone in football wears rose tinted spectacles.

And that’s the key part. For you.

Fortunately some of the rose tinted folk on here have the intelligence to look further than ninety minutes on the football field to see that far from being worse off than when Martinez took over three years ago, the club has taken huge strides in maintaining its status as a self sustaining football club.

But if you want to look at it in terms of league positions, then yes, you’re right: we’re worse off.
