Alcaraz who ain’t played in months and a forward who scores around 4 a season will hardly shaft us. Personally I’ll be glad to see the back of Franco. Not sure we have room for a striker with a 1 goal in 10 goal ratio. Maloneys just signed a contract and is likely to finish his career with us whilst Kone will be around 32 when his contract ends. I wouldn’t be losing sleep!

Beausejour tenth in all season stats for assists in Premier League. Not bad for what many believe is a fat waster on the wing!

Not quite sure why you’ve mentioned Beausejour here unless it’s a veiled reference to the notion he provides a substantial amount of cover for Figueroa. However, that statistic is not a surprise to me. I’m also not surprised no one has mentioned his superb pass for Kone’s second goal yesterday because that would mean a good number of numpties on here having to back track on their opinion of him being “a fat waster on the wing”.

You won’t hear much from any of them until we lose to Liverpool next week.

Well yes, other than I fully expect us to beat Liverpool next week with Johnny boy providing the assist for the winning goal.

Alcaraz may not have played for months, but he has been badly missed.

Fortunately, Martinez had signed Ramis who quickly fitted in at the start of the season. But as centre halves dropped out one after the other, Wigan’s defence grew frailer and frailer.

Now Ramis is out for the rest of the season, and Wigan have both Scharner and Alcaraz back in the squad. And they have come back from Reading with a clean sheet! Wigan should be more secure at the back for the run in, but Scharner is only here till the end of the season.

I’d be reluctant to name a man of the match against Reading. I thought it was a fantastic team performance all round, and with Di Santo at the heart of it. If they go, both he and Alcaraz will be missed.

He is a ‘Fat waster’. One pass (That he attempts and fails most weeks) doesn’t make him a superhero. Not good enough for the Prem.

              McCarthy… ye.

But who have the other 2 been linked with?

I only say it like that because there will be some on here actually hoping that will happen.

Personally, I will take a draw, but think that all three reaults are possible. :)

Let’s have it right Sammy, Beausejour has hardly set the prem alight this season has he. He had one of his better games against Reading for sure but for too many games this season he has been average.

His tactical nous is minimal and he can be stubborn and Wenger-like when it comes to diversifying

Now there is something I completely disagree with :cheer:

His tactical nous is the highest I have ever seen in charge of Wigan Athletic do you remember Paul “one way to play” Jewell?

Just because he doesnt bow to the morons on here to abondon a footballing philsophy that has so far kept us in the PL for 3 seasons does not make him stubborn and unable to diversify.

I dont think there has been a team in the history of the PL who will have changed formation on a more regular basis than we have this season.

He’s not the only one in a Wigan shirt who has “hardly set the prem alight this season” though is he, so why single him out? However, as bigroy stated in an earlier post, “Beausejour (is) tenth in all season stats for assists in Premier League”. Assuming that is correct, and I’ve no reason to believe it isn’t, that is “tenth” in the entire Premier League so his place in the team can be justified on that statistic alone.
Some people just don’t see, or don’t want to see, the bigger picture.

He starts with the same formation and the same line up when fitness of certain players allows…Religiously ! As for Jewell, he got us here in the first place and then got us to a top ten finishing position and a cup final, not too bad for a ” One way to play ” philosophy eh !By the way, just how many different ways does Bob have us playing ? I have only witnessed one to date and it hasn’t exactly bettered that of our as it would now seem to some forgotten hero ! ;)

Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill wants to sign Wigan playmaker Shaun Maloney at the end of the season, writes the Sunday People.

O’Neill wanted the Scotland international in the January window but Latics talked him into signing a new long-term deal. However, O’Neill plans to go back in the summer for a player he had under his wing at Celtic and Aston Villa. If Wigan go down – or Sunderland offer at least £2.5million – then the crafty midfielder will be on his way to the Stadium of Light.

I wouldn’t be surprised if O’Neill tempts him away regardless of whether we go down or not ! If they go down and we stop up then he may just stay put but any other scenario and he will go to Sunderland in my opinion !
