    News from Everton – not for REAL WAFC fans.

    Roberto will get a chance for revenge when Arsenal go to Goodison.

    Everton will have to finish above Spurs or Man United to qualify for the Europa League. And Spurs’ good run seems to have come to an abrupt end.

    Looks like an exciting end of season for both Roberto and Uwe.

    On to 700!

    At least he’ll be able to take the positives from the game, and share them with the Everton fans !

    Hope he was watching our game, just in case he couldn’t find anything positive to tell em on Monday morning. At least he can claim it’s all down to the legacy that he left at Wigan ( I think not ).

        Yes, Uwe has been watching Roberto!

        Wigan manager Uwe Rosler has revealed he masterminded Manchester City’s downfall in the FA Cup by copying Roberto Martinez’s tactics from last year’s final.

        Martinez selected a 3-4-3 formation when Wigan beat City in the 2013 FA Cup final and Rosler, who normally picks a four-man defence, went to three at the back as he borrowed from the blueprint his predecessor used in both the Wembley showpiece and a 1-0 league defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

        Former City striker Rosler explained: “I studied Roberto’s tactics from when he won the FA Cup. He put out a very good gameplan. I saw the league game here where Roberto’s team played periods of the game to perfection.

        “I tried to replicate it. I felt our only chance was keeping the ball in attacking areas. If we looked to defend we would have no chance.”

        Thank you, Roberto!

        JR, Everton, obviously, didn’t play a league match this weekend.

        They now have two league matches in hand. One win will take them into sixth place; two wins will take them into fifth place.

        Everton will qualify for the Europa League if they finish in fifth or sixth place. Tottenham seem to have run out of steam, so Everton have everything to play for.

        They can also help Wigan’s cup run;

        Sat 5 April Wigan v Leeds
        Sun 6 April Everton v Arsenal
        Tue 8 April Wigan v Millwall
        12/13 April Arsenal v Wigan

        To finish in the top six – and win a coveted place in the Europa League – it looks like two clubs out of three.

        The latest odds;

        Tottenham 1/3 = 8/24
        Everton 4/9 = 8/18
        Manchester United 8/13

        Competition looks very close at the top and bottom of the Premier League too.

          Funny isn’t it, that it’s a “coveted Europa League place” (no criticism of you by the way WGTB for using the phrase), until they actually get into it, then it’s a distraction from the main thrust of next season – which is to finish high enough to qualify for Europe the following season ad infinitum – so second string teams are fielded. :unsure:
