15 June 2014 at 5:46 pm #131842Do you mean like this?
First statement; Can you honestly say that any of the list of things I’ve put forward is not a true fact.
Second statement; I’ve just read your response to my list and basically I’ve rag dolled you.
I sit at the side of the tunnel in the West and believe me I have not made up any of those negative things about Martinez. They are 100% FACTS and not just what I see.
The one about the subs waiting to get on happened in more than 50% of all games. Where are you sat during a match, in the Moon Under the Water?
The one about Martinez standing there motionless with arms folded then clapping the likes of McCarthy for kicking a ten yard pass directly into touch, happened 4 or 5 times in every game.
Some will say there are different management styles and some players don’t react well to a good bollocking, well I’ve been in management for longer than I care to remember and know full well that the occasional bollocking is well and truly needed at times. The Mr Nice guys get trampled all over by those who work for them and are not frightened of making mistakes because guess what, they get applauded for it. Then what happens,James McCarthy kicks a 10 yard pass directly in to touch the next game and the one after that and the one after that…..
By the way when I wrote that I had not bothered to read your 3 on the bounce threads, I hadn’t. When I posted later that I had read your 3 on the bounce thread’s I had. That’s not changing my mind that’s telling the facts as they were at that time.
For someone who contributes some intelligent posts on here, you totally miss the obvious and theme of threads at times. :blink:From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!15 June 2014 at 6:30 pm #131843So your post was intended to be serious after all.
The one about Martinez standing there motionless with arms folded then clapping the likes of McCarthy for kicking a ten yard pass directly into touch, happened 4 or 5 times in every game.I can’t see McCarthy being a success if he can’t kick straight. Wigan were right to get shot of him. They should ask twice as much for McArthur when he follows him.
15 June 2014 at 11:00 pm #131847Obstinate? Refusing to change his views?
I think that this post reveals more about you than Roberto.
Don’t agree. That was a damn good summary from Jrfatfan ( one of the most observant posters on this forum ). Well done JR.
Oh well, if you agree with him, that’s it then…

For someone who contributes some intelligent posts on here, you totally miss the obvious and theme of threads at times.
Martinez doesn’t applaud the bad passes. Yes he claps when they happen, but it’s in encouragement to the player who’s made the error – ie. ‘Never mind, keep it going, hard lines, well intended’ etc. It’s a bit difficult to get words of encouragement across over the noise of the crowd and when the player is thirty yards away.
And no, he’s not the only football manager who does this.
The players clearly know they have made a cock-up when they hoof it into touch, so why have a go at them? The second you start bollocking them for every mistake they make, they’ll stop trying things and will just play it safe.
You may have been a manager for a long time, but you’ve never had to manage whilst 20,000 people are sitting around you shouting a jeering.
And as for bollocking players: do you bollock your staff in public – in front of your competitors and customers? And are your members of staff on million pound salaries, represented by agents, and surrounded by the nation press?
You can’t get away with berating players in the public eye these days. Harry Redknapp even said as much on Talk Sport a couple of weeks ago.
By all accounts Martinez did lose his temper, but it was behind closed doors.
But you’re right. Now Martinez has gone to Everton, he’s a crap manager.

What a journey!16 June 2014 at 12:55 am #131851Top banana!
17 June 2014 at 9:50 pm #131895Roberto is looking for a new Academy manager now that Alan Irvine has been appointed as West Bromwich Albion’s new head coach. Alan Irvine had close links to David Moyes.
Gregor Rioch took over the Wigan Academy in December 2013 from interim manager Matt Jackson. So he is not one of Roberto’s appointments.
