Not really.
I just look ahead and have concerns about where the club will end up. You all think we are suddenly going to become another city, with mega rich owners. You are letting the ££££ signs cloud your judgement. Once they realise we are a small club, even at Championship level, with shit support and a real uphill struggle to progress, they will jump ship fast. Leaving us probably with untenable debts and big problems. Basically back to where we were in 1995, but on a bigger scale. I hope I am proved wrong, but that remains to be seen.
And nobody to come in and save us.
If it’s a crime to be worried and concerned about the club I support, and have had a season ticket for since 1986, then yes, I’m guilty as charged.

Vat Mon, do you seriously think that these men haven’t done their homework and know the status of the club? They will know exactly who we are and what they can expect and obviously think we are worth investing in. Lets at least see what happens. When Mr Whelan first bought us out and publicly stated we would be in the Prem in 10 years I thought he was on drugs. I laughed at his comments but who had the last laugh?. Sharpey has also stated that over the years many offers from overseas and at home came in to buy us out so worse case scenario and it goes tits up like your expecting then someone else will be waiting in the wings to take us on. Football is the business to be in and it will only get more attractive to would be owners whatever the club. Lets wait before we fear the grim reaper lad eh.
Im not too sure TBH nuneaton. Im usually positive, but i share the same views as vat. In fact what he posted, i was about to post, only he beat me to it. I too was going to post that my concern is when we don’t start winning the premier league or getting into the top 4, or god forbid, struggle to win the FA Cup, will the owners pull out & leave us in the mire?
Why does no one else other than vat & i have these concerns?????
I wonder if Charnock Richard is part of the deal or their thinking about an academy still, or is Uncle Dave hoping everyone has forgot and is ready to sell it to house builders I liked playing golf there.
And what worries me the most, is the gloating look on the faces of not just the rugby fans, but of those “wigan born” fans who choose to support the bigger clubs when the club is in the mire. Both sets of people would happily take great pride in seeing the demise of the towns football club.
I remember all too well when folk walked around springfield park with buckets.
Vat/Runcorn….. I do think you are right to have concerns and to some extent I share the same worries but as Nuneaton has said , people who can muster £20 million or so
are unlikely to be dimwits and this whole process has been unfolding for months (and I guess it still may not happen .) so we aren’t being bought on a whim.If the buyers have made enquiries with football folk in the UK(and I can only think they must have) then they are likelier to have got a gloomier assessment of our standing and future prospects than if they asked us ….so they really ought to be coming in with eyes wide open ?

We are looking at being taken over by a group with money – a situation loads of other clubs would be so happy and optimistic about – and you are worried about what may might happen, and then go further into what people will think when something may happen following something that hasn’t yet happened. :)

I don’t think we have shit support, I think we have in general terms “low crowds”. We all know the reasons why this is and there are many other clubs in all 4 leagues in the same boat as us.
I say let’s see how things progress with this take over. There is nobody, apart from those involved, who know enough to make a proper second guess on how things will turn out. I would suggest we all keep fairly neutral and wait till we know a bit more. To be over pessimistic or over optimistic at this stage, in my opinion, is a little foolish.
