for christs sake take your blinkers off –
as i said before look how many times we knock the ball long-usually bramble or figueroa and usually to a opposition full back or straight into touch or every now and again to figgs or zog.
its still long ball rubbish
We’re not long-ball Loudmouth. Yes there are stray diagonal passes, but I’d put good money on the fact that if you compare the number per game now to a match played under Bruce, you’d see a big difference.
Have a look a link below.
We have the ninth best passes completed figure – beaten only by ‘the big four’, Spurs, City, Fulham and West Ham. That doesn’t sound like a long-ball team to me.
Then look who have the lowest totals: Stoke, Sunderland and Bolton.
That tells a story.
Also interesting to see that Thomas is the top tackler, and N’Zogbia the top ‘dribbler’. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, … 70,00.html
i’ll say this again read what mark twain/benjemen disrailli said about statistics,
but does the completed passes count give a breakdown of the amount across the back four before the crossfield hoof or the 99% sideways or backwards that gomez makes,
thomas’s tackle count really shows well in the goals against column doesnt it or the calls from people on here(not me i might add)for him to be dropped –
but the “top dribbler” award is not to nzogbia,it goes to you lot on here drooling over the spanish one and his methods.

a long ball from figueroa to figgs??
now THAT would be a cracker.
sorry about that i mean rodallega, but you know that ,so you resort to the childish act of pulling people up on bad spelling or lapses in thought as in my terrible oversight.

Sorry, don’t have them to hand. You’ll have to educate me in literature and history. What did they say?

And you are trying to lecture me on statistics?
You’re right, it doesn’t, but funny how the three recognised long-ball teams are right there at the bottom of the table eh? So, we make more pointless cross-field passes than other teams, have a player who runs with the ball more than anyone else, but are still a long-ball team? I’m amazed other teams can actually get hold of the ball, never mind put nine past us.
I suspect that if I presented you with a detailed list of long-balls Bruce v Martinez / Wigan v non-Wigan, you would still dispute it. I am also starting to suspect that you usually post on another forum site, and have taken up this persona for their amusement.

No, but if more put in that many tackles, perhaps it would.
If we do dribble/drool as you suggest Loudmouth, at least it is only liquid content emanating from our mouths.
As far as away supports concerned, I think our best this season was at Notts County. We always had a decent away support, don’t know about 70% but there are certainly a lot less than we used to have.
In my humble opinion, the best football we play is when we get the ball out to the wing, try taking men on and get crosses over
You don’t need a dozen passes to give the ball to a winger.
Equally the punt up the field is not an option for us as the man waiting to hold up the ball hasn’t a chance.
Heskey wasn’t a goal scorer, but boy do you see his value to the team when he’s gone.
