End of the day everyone keeps writing Shrewsbury off….all the injury s suspension s they keep bouncing back.no excuses there boys.still a long way to go Shrewsbury still a chance for top spot.
3 April 2018 at 2:36 pm #167942When Vaughan was on we left him up front on his jacks deciding to play the ball through the middle to him and starving him.
So at 2-0 down and under 30minutes to go wouldn’t 2up front bin the best option ?, no Cook decides to remain with one up front by bringing Grigg on and ? Start knocking it long. Now if Vaughan had of been on upsides Grigg im sure we’d have grabbed a point.Powell was still bringing the ball from the half way line till Cook decides to bring Roberts 15mins after Grigg had come on then Roberts ends up crossing the ball for Griggs goal.
My point been, were 2-0 down so for me 2up front was the way to go with 25 to go, either Grigg/Vaughan or Grigg/Roberts or Roberts/Vaughan
Massey ? What’s his role ??, im lost
Elder ?, liability,
But if theres one humongous problem we have
No pace or width what so ever, weres the scotch lad we bought ?, seems another waste along with Cole.
MacDonald ?
James ?
Fulton ?
Cole ?
Our bench bar Grigg was ultra light to say the leastHow can the bench be light with 3 subs of Grigg who scored. Roberts who crossed and Coco who everyone seems to think should have started and the Scots lad you referred to (Walker)was on the bench too?[/quote]
No variation thats the bench problem and I seem to remember Walker was never used so I could sit there if needed be. In times gone by I always seem to remember we would have a game turner sat on the bench whether it be Moses, Vilchut someone who could come on with 1-15 to go and inject some pace into the game, light the touch paper.
Granted as I point out, Roberts set Grigg’s goal up but had he come on 15 minutes earlier would the outcome been any different ?, I would like to think it would due to his impact on the game.
At 1-0 down fair play, Grigg on nick a goal, grab a point I can see the point to that but we were 2-0 down ! Vaughan should have never left the field. For me Cook has to shoulder a fair chunk of the blame purely on the basis of his team selection (Massey been one Jacobs not far behind) and the timing the subs. He needs to risk take at the right times and get someone with some fookin pace for Christ sake !!3 April 2018 at 3:34 pm #167943Hopefully we’ll finish top two but if it’s the play offs that’s the cards we’ve been dealt and I don’t fear anyone in the play offs from teams we’ve played.
3 April 2018 at 3:53 pm #167944Play offs are a lottery I don’t want us to go down that route. We should still be looking at automatic promotion though I’m beginning to fear we will lose out on the title. Fair play to Blackburn they have fabulous strikers and they get the best from them said it before Charlton will have a big say in this.
3 April 2018 at 4:55 pm #167945Nobody will remember the Portsmouth game if we secure a comfortable win against MK Dons and move back into the automatics with a game in hand.
They certainly won’t remember it if we also beat Rochdale on Tuesday.

As others say though we aren’t doing too bad with it this season but that’s probably more down to the board keeping some decent players together rather than any system. After the boards faith we shouldn’t be expecting anything less than second. Third would be an absoloute disasterous failure.3 April 2018 at 5:03 pm #167947Nobody will remember the Portsmouth game if we secure a comfortable win against MK Dons and move back into the automatics with a game in hand. They certainly won’t remember it if we also beat Rochdale on Tuesday.
I for one am expecting nothing less than winning the next four games. MK, Rochdale, Rotherham and Oxford. 12 points and nothing less unless we mess it up seriously.
3 April 2018 at 6:05 pm #167948Yet again struggled against the better sidesI had been waiting for this one.
But truth is, we never struggled though. We had a penalty decision go against us, that wasn’t a penalty. And their keeper pulled off top class saves where he tipped powell’s effort onto the bar, & a point blank save from grigg.
It wasn’t the best performance i’ve seen. Passes went completely astray. I agree with everyone about massey & that powell should do the simple rather than try the complicated at times. And jacobs needs a rest.
3 April 2018 at 7:51 pm #167949Probably referring to our lack of wins against the top 6.
3 April 2018 at 8:10 pm #167952Hopefully we’ll finish top two but if it’s the play offs that’s the cards we’ve been dealt and I don’t fear anyone in the play offs from teams we’ve played. Can you imagine it?, the play-offs ? we could be 25pts clear of the 6th place team winning 8-10 games more and still miss out on going up.
I have a feeling the delay in any take over is based on us playing in the Championship next season. We simply cannot afford any more slip ups 8 Cup finals it’s as simple as that but Cook needs to take chances if we end up in the same boat as Monday’s game
3 April 2018 at 8:55 pm #167954Without doubt yesterday was an off day and certain players just didn’t perform. I think Paul Cook has the makings of a top manager but I struggle to see why he keeps picking Massey who is obviously the weak link in the team. Elder had his worse game of the season, sorry Max fans but Power brings nothing to the team except dead balls and Jacobs is so inconsistent fading out of games for long periods.
To be honest I didn’t think the ref had a bad game I can see why he gave a penalty against Dan we would have screamed blue murder if he hadn’t give it to us and the handball from the free kick would have been harsh but Ive seen them given. Pompey didn’t impress me but they closed us down very quickly and if ever you needed to see what a crowd can do to lift their team it was yesterday. When I see the atmosphere at the DW it makes me very envious of clubs who’s fans really get behind them vocally like Pompy and the likes of Crystal Palace. All in all a bad day at the office but we do have the quality to hit back but I think we may have to settle for 2nd as Blackburn are looking very strong.
3 April 2018 at 11:34 pm #167955We didn’t get into any rhythm, poor passing at times & very slow build up. Fair to say that was one of our poorer performances, but some credit has to go to Portsmouth. Kenny did his homework on us & they chased us down from the front. We’ve not had a team do that to us for a while but when it happens we struggle to cope with it.
When all said and done Portsmouth were lucky to win, and can someone tell me what our goal was disallowed for?
3 April 2018 at 11:41 pm #167956Dan Burn is a good player but he is far from Superman. He has made too many mistakes and that’s gone on for months. We have been lucky at times and he has got away with it. Far too many times he tries to play football and he is too clumsy and ties himself in a knot. Just get shut Dan. As a team we are still guilty of too much passing backwards and sideways and walking around with the ball at a snails pace. This is just monotonous and a total bore. Look at the difference just pushing the ball forward at pace makes (1st and 3rd goals against Oldham) We are sadly lacking a winger in the style of Wildschutt too. We can’t rely on the wing backs all the time because they run hot and cold. Where the hell is Reese James? Fortunately for us we have probably the strongest squad to take us up automatically but we will have to look at a lot of these points to stay in the Championship next season and to do this we can’t be throwing points away like we have done recently against Scunthorpe and Portsmouth.

No idea why that goal was disallowed but defending for their second was atrocious.

I haven’t seen it again on the telly but in the ground I assumed it was for offside
Sure I remember seeing the linesman’s flag up but I could be mistaken -
