Shit but didnt lose
5 clear with 1 less game
Up the tics24 February 2019 at 11:58 am #176609Form Guide in last 5:
Wigan – 6pts
Reading – 6pts
Millwall – 5pts
Rotherham – 5pts
Bolton – 3pts
Ipswich – 3ptsNone of the sides below Wigan are reeling you in. Rotherham’s next 5 games are Blackburn, Sheff Utd, QPR, Norwich & Derby. They’ll not have 35 points in 39 games, let alone 33.
24 February 2019 at 11:59 am #176610We had a good start and looked comfortable then started to let them have opportunities at the back post with a spare man finding space. Then what looked like a con of a penalty (not seen it on tv so happy to be wrong). After that it wAs always going to be tough breaking them down as the sat and defended.
I had several frustrations;
Their play acting
Our unwillingness to run to the bye line and cross
The lack of urgency towards the end
Leon Clarke appearing to wear my boots instead of his own
Powell didn’t appear to know we were losing and had a very rusty game
On the positive side we came back to gain a point from a losing position and no one else gained any points on us, with millwall and Bolton losingClear penalty, no complaints. He pulled him back.
I think all that whisky has affected your eyesight Vat69.
I have watched that penalty award 3 or 4 times in slo mo and I’ll be buggered if Dunkley’s boot lace even touches their mon !
I saw it happen as it happened, he pulled their player back, by the arm, I think. We all saw it in ES6, and people in ES3 said they saw it too. It was clear, and unnecessary, as he was facing the corner flag and in the corner of the penalty area. Daft foul.
Please dont even ATTEMPT to claim it wasnt a penalty, it clearly was!
I hope no one brushes against you when your shopping m8 or you’ll be dusting yourself down every 5 minutes.
It’s a fookin contact sport he put an arm on him and as soon as he felt it his legs gave in like an hypnotist….”3-2-1 Sleep !!”.
Yes I agree, it is a contact sport. But I also reside in ES6 & the penalty was clear as day. Very stupid one to give away, which was also the opinion of everyone sat around me.

Cheers. Theres no way anybody can deny that was a penalty. I gave it before the referee did! Blinkered some folk.
24 February 2019 at 1:27 pm #176613Couldn’t believe the other results when I got home, no one gained on us and we climbed a place WTF.
To lighten the mood if you’ve bought a kids season ticket do you get your money back for that game 1 it was piss poor and torture 2 kids went free on the day so you should get money back.24 February 2019 at 1:30 pm #176615VAT, everyone sat around me uttered the words “You stupid idiot,” or words to similar effect & as you say, even before the ref had even given it. It was a nailed on penalty & as I keep saying, a very stupid & needless one to give away.
24 February 2019 at 1:37 pm #176616Lots of sideways passing and the lack of anyone taking command in the centre circle made us look toothless and one dimensionalI actually agree with you there cupwinners. 2nd half especially. I saw loads of times when players were making runs down the flanks or onto space, only for whoever had the ball to stop & pass it sideways. I understand that the players dont want to lose possession, but sometimes you just gotta take a risk & be braver.
As for being one dimensional. We do lack that creativity in the middle, that one player who can hold the ball then do a defence splitting pass, a la senor Gomez.

He’s called Nick Powell and was sat on the bench. Along with Massey these were PCs preferred options when they weren’t available.24 February 2019 at 3:32 pm #176621What baffled me was why Cook waited so long to change a system that clearly wasn’t working from the kick-off. Is there some law that says you can’t make a tactical substitution until the 60th minute? Morsy and Evans playing the same roll in midfield resulted in one of them, Evans as it happens, being totally ineffectual, eventually recognised by bringing off Dunkley, putting Morsy at the back and allowing Evans more space which was an improvement.
24 February 2019 at 3:38 pm #176622I think a fit Powell plays. His career is plagued with niggling injuries that need to be managed hence he likes his time at Wigan. I’m sure. £8-£10 million pound move would put paid to him been wrapped in cotton wool and been managed so well. I’ve lost count how many times he’s been brought off after a slight knock just to play it safe.
When Gibson came that first game he played was outstanding with every ball going forward with inch perfect precision. Since then he’s been a shadow of that player he was in that first game.
We need to hang on in there and hopefully we’ll stay up. My biggest fear is, we do stay up and the faceless IEC think that that’s a job well done by Cook on pennies and next season is of the same, little investment and signing aging out of contract players.
Our 2 oldest players never even made the bench so what’s the fookin point of that ?. Will Lang be back next season or will we sign another 30+ striker because he’s experienced ?,
Clarke wasn’t much good first time round and 4 years on he hasn’t improved much. I mean, why swap him out for Vaughan ?. And don’t mention his time at Sheff Utd, Jesus !! I could score there25 February 2019 at 5:11 am #176643Yes we were shit today but we are still 5 above the drop.As for vatty fattys shite about us an Bolton being similar and there beimg no difference….
9 points and 4 places fat boy. I’ll bet you your Everton season tickey we stay up and they don’t.
What a stupid reply.
Btw apparently Bolton have just been taken over….debts paid and sorted.
So the difference is 9 points and 4 places is it? And we have 3 aways on the trot soon….very interesting.
25 February 2019 at 11:50 am #176644So they will all of a sudden win those games will they? 1 win in how long?
We will stay up, they won’t.
25 February 2019 at 1:51 pm #176646If you expect us to be in top half of this league with our budget and crowds I would fuck it off and watch another side as you’re only gonna be disappointed. We are miles behind the majority in terms of infrastructure and size and avoiding relegation will be a decent achievement in a league we have struggled to get to grips with the last two seasons we have been in it.Well Preston seem to be doing alright and they ain’t a bigger club than us these days. Their squad on paper is no better than ours and they have had their fair share of injuries as well.
25 February 2019 at 2:19 pm #176647Absolutely spot on there fil.preston and other teams are playing a high tempo game….which makes us look very slow and a division below.early on in the season we where playing a higher tempo game.
