I’d addition to the above.

I’m not one to question people’s support, and I’m aware how expensive the last few weeks have been for Latics fans, but I don’t know why we aren’t taking 2,000+ to WBA. It’s a massive game, tickets are reasonable, it’s not too far away, it’s eminently winnable.

If you can’t be bothered for this game when can you be?

might have summut to do with been skint, spending over a grand on 2 Wembley games doesnt help.
If you wan’t me there , PayPal me a 50 spot over and I will attend :)
Bulls**t. How expensive can it be to get up and down to Birmingham for arguably one of Wigan’s biggest ever games in the Premiership?
Not that expensive in the grand scheme of things.

But in the grand scheme of domestic and other responsibilities, it might be lower in the priority list for a lot of us.

So, we’ll leave this game to those of you who can afford to sit pulling yourselves round your bedrooms all day long, waiting for your mum to shout you down for tea and give you your pocket money.

How did you manage to spend a grand on Wembley?

Anyway, £50 is really a drop in the ocean. If you can afford £1,000 on Wembley surely you can afford £50 for one of the biggest games in our history?

Sorry, but I don’t know wtf you are trying to say in your last paragraph. A simple explanation rather than your normal condesending one will suffice. And if these kind of games are ‘such low priority’ why are people even arsed coming on here talking about then. You can say all you like about costs, wembley etc but any other club in our position on Saturday would sell out their allocation.

No need to apologise, it’s probably not your fault you can’t understand it and I certainly aint going to explain it again.

People have all sorts of reasons why they don’t go to certain matches. I have mine, but you won’t catch me trying to justify them to you, or anyone else, for that matter.

As it happens, I am going to West Brom, but I wouldn’t slag off anyone else who, for whatever reason, can’t go.

correct but none of those clubs will be Wigan Athletic

we just don’t have the fan base to spread across all of these games and it’s easy to watch it for free these days

5 years ago and beyond you wouldn’t have got a ticket for most of the games we play these days

Come on fellas, nobody should be ridiculed or abuses in the current climate for saying they can’t afford to go to a game.

I bet there’s many Wiganers who have had to rely on plastic over the past few weeks, and I bet some families will be forgoing their summer holiday due to forking out for two Wembley trips. Some people may have great disposable incomes, but I haven’t and I bet a lot of others are the same as me.

All told, I’ve managed to do both Wembley trips for £200 (ticket and travel)

Im not taking my kids, as I simply couldn’t afford the £180 it would of cost for their tickets and travel. Plus, it would absolutely tire them out, the journey down and back.

If a mum and dad take 2 or 3 kids it’ll be a dear do.

I don’t ridicule people typically for not being able to afford to go to a match. I would love to go to all games home and away but I can’t afford it.

However, as football fans we probably all spend more than we should following Latics, and on such a big game I would be doing everything I could to get the cash to go to this match.

Ticket £25, travel £15, £5 on food/drinks if you can’t afford more. £45 is all. How can somebody afford a season ticket, two Wembley trips etc. if they can’t afford £45 for this game?

Most of us have to make choices about what games we go to. This is simply one of those games that there is no choice about, I have to be there.

I’m guessing from your user name that you are 23-ish, either that or your brother is Joe 90. When you grow up son, and have a family and responsibilities you’ll perhaps understand that whilst a lot of fans would love to go, they simply can’t.

There is no such thing as having no choice but to go to a football match. You can wave your willy as much as you want because you (perhaps) go to every game, but it really impresses no-one.

I don’t go to every game, as I said. But if you are living that close to the edge you can’t afford West Brom, you probably shouldn’t have a season ticket and you probably shouldn’t be at Wembley either.

And you shouldn’t tell other people how to run their lives, until you’ve had one yourself.

How’s about not being able to afford West Brom……AND..2 trips to wembley with 2 kids out of nearly one months pay .As much as I love my football we grown ups do have other priorities ,so enjoy the day and don’t label us non supporters just because you are in a position of untold financial wealth or …..living at mum’s yet !

My original point is that when we have big away games, we typically take 2-3,000. I expected WBA to be the same and I’m surprised we have sold less than 800 so far.

Other people brought finances in to it, I don’t criticise people for their financial situation. But if people want to argue that Wembley is stopping them going to WBA, frankly I think that’s silly. WBA is a cheap away game, and if your finances allow you go to Wembley then I do t think your finances prevent you from going WBA.

Unless you spent all your money going to Wembley!! How do you know the state/arrangements of other people’s finances? Maybe I was right, your mam does give you your pocket money ;)

Can you post me the menu from the drinking establishment where i can feed and water myself all day for a fiver .The reality is you can realistically make that a £60-£75 day out unless I grab a 6 pack of fruit shoots and get my mother-in-law to do me a lunch box.

                      #111604

Not that I planned to be going West Brom anyway but if I had then I would have had to leave it due to attending the final.
