Can you post me the menu from the drinking establishment where i can feed and water myself all day for a fiver .The reality is you can realistically make that a £60-£75 day out unless I grab a 6 pack of fruit shoots and get my mother-in-law to do me a lunch box.

You can go an away game without getting sloshed you know ;)

I don’t go to every game, as I said. But if you are living that close to the edge you can’t afford West Brom, you probably shouldn’t have a season ticket and you probably shouldn’t be at Wembley either.

And you shouldn’t tell other people how to run their lives, until you’ve had one yourself.
My original point is that when we have big away games, we typically take 2-3,000. I expected WBA to be the same and I’m surprised we have sold less than 800 so far.

Other people brought finances in to it, I don’t criticise people for their financial situation. But if people want to argue that Wembley is stopping them going to WBA, frankly I think that’s silly. WBA is a cheap away game, and if your finances allow you go to Wembley then I do t think your finances prevent you from going WBA.
Unless you spent all your money going to Wembley!! How do you know the state/arrangements of other people’s finances? Maybe I was right, your mam does give you your pocket money ;)
Then I would advise that not going to Wembley might the best option.

As I have said repeatedly, I don’t criticise people for not being able to afford to go to all matches because I can’t do that myself. I just expected us to sell more than the 800 or so we’ve sold so far. I even acknowledged the expensive last few weeks.

In what far fetched reality would that ever be the best option?!?!

If you could only afford one you would be off to West Brom would you?

I think you should read more carefully. If going to Wembley puts you completely out of pocket, I would advise not going to Wembley.

No mention of WBA, or any other game in that sentence.

Sorry for keeping it in the context of the ongoing discussion.

As said previously you dont know what peoples financial cirumstances are so please lay off the sweeping statements.

To give you a bit of insight into mine I get paid on the 15th of every month.

So yes going to the cup final on the 11th of May will leave me out of pocket.

But its my choice what I spend the last of my money on after the mortgage car insurance bills food etc.

I never brought finances in to the discussion, beyond saying I know the last few weeks have been tough on latics fans wallets.

I simply stated my expectation that we would sell much more tickets than we have.

Other people chose to bring finances in to it. Not me. I responded to people who said Wembley makes it impossible to go to any other games.

Please read the whole discussion first before attacking my posts. This is not about me slating people about their finances. This is me stating my surprise at the limited ticket sales.

You might have to explain those items a bit more fully for a fiduciary-challenged friend ;)

You should run for Tory office Ross…

You are certainly condescending enough for it.

Read my opening post first. My problem with those who can’t be bothered to go. I didn’t say,” I hate all those poor people who can’t afford to go.” I dislike the number of fans we have who don’t really seem to bothered about supporting the club.

I refuse to believe we only have 1000 fans who can spare £50 to go to the WBA game.

Funny that you (wrongly) accuse me of second guessing people’s circumstances, but are more than happy to make assumptions about me based on my age.

I guess the word hypocrite doesn’t appear in your book.

He COULD be that finance expert, Martyn Lewis off the TV, I suppose.:-)

Regarding my trip to the final, as much as I am looking forward to the game and spectacle, I am dreading the actual coach journey there and back. It took us 5 hours to get home from the semi and I was absolutely knackered for the week afterwards. Like a zombie for 3 days.
I did consider a train and hotel package from co op travel, but it was up to £66 by then, which I will admit, is still a great price for train and hotel.

However, I then took into account how much I would end up spending down there and it was without doubt that I would’ve ended up spending a fortune…lunch and dinner on Sarurday, breakfast on Sunday, plus a few pints at capital prices. And no, I wouldn’t say Im a big drinker these days, it can be weeks between me having a drink, but I know that I would probably have had around 8-10 beers at say, £4 a pop. So say £40 on ale. £10 perhaps for my lunch at the stadium, and maybe £15 later for some dinner in early evening. So this adds up to £65 On food and drink. Then maybe I would’ve had to buy tube tickets, to get about. Say £10.

so my costs would’ve been:

TICKET £65
TRAVEL AND HOTEL £66
FOOD & DRINK £65
TUBE PASS £10

Not even including a programme, which I definitely want to get, that’s £206. To put this into perspective, last year two of us went to Krakow for 4 nights in first week of Sept (still high season) and it cost £210 for us BOTH.

So all this considered, it was a no brainer.

Anyway, truth be told, its a miracle I’ve afforded to go to this and the semi. By hook or by crook, I think they call it.

I was guessing about your age based on your user name – was I close?

You have demonstrated a complete lack of understanding about real world financial arrangements.

Apparently, 23 year olds can’t have a mortgage, rent, bills, food etc. to pay. Although I’m not actually 23.

To clarify for people who find following a conservation difficult.

I made a post complaining about the apathetic nature of our fanbase, whilst acknowledging the expensive past few weeks.

People with poor comprehension skills thought I was attacking people on the basis of their personal finances. What I was actually doing was making a general comment about our fanbase, and the apathy we often show.

Perhaps I should not have responded to those who completely misunderstood my post. But when somebody says that because they spent £1000 on Wembley, they can’t afford £50 for WBA I felt compelled to state my opinion that that is complete BS.
