14 July 2018 at 9:00 pm #170270Of much more importance Latics won 2-1 at Tranmere with Grigg and Walker scoring. Meanwhile England made it 3 defeats in the tournament getting beaten 2-0 with Bobby’s mob.
Importance? It was a friendly ffs, couldnt have been that important if you didnt go!
Fuck the EFL
14 July 2018 at 9:30 pm #170273Coincidence that at the start of the second half we looked far better without both Alli and Sterling on the pitch and despite Kane being a passenger. Loftus Cheek did well so why sub him and i thought we were going to equalize until Stan Laurel doppelganger Jones arsed up for their second. Really flat atmosphere today understandably but glad for Bobby and Jonesey as ex tics.
14 July 2018 at 10:37 pm #170274Is Kane a passenger because he isn’t that good or a passenger playing under Southgates system and so deep or without the service of a decent midfielder as you have mentioned previously DJ?
He seems to shine with Spurs.14 July 2018 at 11:50 pm #170275Should have played 442 and just lumped it to the big man

He seems to shine with Spurs.Only a passenger Donny coz he is clearly carrying an injury and not fit. Of course he has suffered thru lack of creativity but Loftus Cheek was trying to provide it. I thought we were pretty decent and looked the most likely until Jones got us in another fine mess. We went then which is a shame still onwards and upwards.
15 July 2018 at 12:33 am #170277We’ve flattered to deceive. I don’t think this team is any better than those that have gone before. Where it is different is that the players did at least give the impression they cared and were interested and genuinely thought they could go on and win it. Out of the players on show only two stand out as having the potential to become genuine world class and that’s Kane and Stones. The rest are average at best. So unless some new talent comes along in the next few years, especially in midfield, I really don’t see us being in any kind of position to seriously challenge for international honours.

Pickford and Maguire?[/quote]
World class?
15 July 2018 at 1:16 am #170281Aye. McGuire to me has looked more world class than Kane. Two easy headers against Tunisia, a few pens and a goal that he knew nothing about and hit his heel doesn’t mean he’s the best striker in the world. Bloody lucky to finish top scorer. Pickford been decent but nowhere near same class as say a Courtois and doesn’t have same presence. He was flapping a bit against Croatia and was lucky with a couple of spills as he was earlier in tournament. World cups are notorious for making average lads world beaters based on a couple of games.

Maguire has been the surprise player and fully deserves the praise he’s been given. I thought he was a decent prospect when he played for us but didn’t think he’d reach international level. However, I’ve heard pundits comparing him with Bobby Moore, which is like comparing Messi with Will Grigg.
15 July 2018 at 2:51 pm #170286When the dust has settled and you look at it logically, we blew our best chance in a generation but weren’t all that great.
Our defence was lauded as being something special but we kept one clean sheet and Pickford was probably man of the match in several games.
We scored the 2nd highest number of goals, but we played Panama so take that freak result away and we scored 6 goals in 6 games. We only actually looked threatening from set pieces.
It was great to progress that far and to have the belief but realistically the draw falling apart around us helped us massively.
15 July 2018 at 10:04 pm #170290Wouldnt you just know it?
The cheating French bastards have won the World Cup, Croatia robbed!
Unlucky lads.
Fuck the EFL
15 July 2018 at 10:10 pm #170291The French are quietly going about their business and are my tip to do well.;)

Not without more than a little help from VAR never a penalty in the memory of man. How the ref saw that as deliberate hand ball after seeing it from every angle is unbelievable. No point anymore of even protesting it. I lost interest in the game after that.
