Ah that’s it.
I keep buying a season ticket or 3 every season and turning up at cup games despite the dross continually served up.
I didn’t realise why.

So not the inability to defend balls in the air or the retain possession at all costs at the expense of actually getting balls in the box or having a shot then.

Bit harsh mate. He can beat a man or 2.Few dodgy crosses but the crosses from the other wing back are hardly brill every time are they, and at least Stam can beat a man. B)

I posted this on another threa a while ago but …..
I remember standing on the popular side at Springfield Park in the very early 80’s watching 2 blokes nearly come to blows over the merits of Jeff Wright as a footballer.
Like Gomez,Wright had a decent touch and tried things that didn’t always come off,but like Gomez as he didn’t run 20 yards to tackle someone or chop them off at the knees, the majority didn’t like him.
This one bloke was really ripping into Wright,the other told him to shut up and it kicked off.As he was dragged off by his mates the first bloke was screaming “You’re a Wright lover” into the other guys face as though he should have been taken behind the main stand and shot for thinking Wright was a decent footballer.
I always thought Purdie and Corrigan were the weak links in that side – but that’a a different argument !!
