I posted this on another threa a while ago but …..

I remember standing on the popular side at Springfield Park in the very early 80’s watching 2 blokes nearly come to blows over the merits of Jeff Wright as a footballer.

Like Gomez,Wright had a decent touch and tried things that didn’t always come off,but like Gomez as he didn’t run 20 yards to tackle someone or chop them off at the knees, the majority didn’t like him.

This one bloke was really ripping into Wright, the other told him to shut up and it kicked off.As he was dragged off by his mates the first bloke was screaming “You’re a Wright lover” into the other guys face as though he should have been taken behind the main stand and shot for thinking Wright was a decent footballer.

I always thought Purdie and Corrigan were the weak links in that side – but that’a a different argument !!

Espinoza seemed to have the mobility of a pensioner at half time on the pitch – very stiff !!!

Sorry but you are now judging players by how they looked (to you) in the warm up at half time??

    You cannot be serious

Have you ever watched Di Santo practice shooting before kick off. Try it it will explain a lot !! ;)
Did you ever watch The Duke’s pre game shooting practice ?

Couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo but he didn’t do too bad for us did he!
Ok.When Franco knocks in his 20th goal of the season refer me back to this post !! :P

Very poor performance. One shot on target in 90 minutes excluding the penalty which Gomez did his best to cock up.We did hit the bar twice though.

    1. Played with a back 4 so struggled to retain the ball in midfield.

Boselli was useless as usual, the new lad from utd didn’t impress either. Poor control.

You’d think some of the fringe players would try to impress but no.

    2. Espinoza seemed to have the mobility of a pensioner at half time on the pitch – very stiff !!!

    1. No we didn’t. When in possession it was a back three as per the usual.

    2. Are you taking the p1ss with this? Please tell me you are.
No it was a back 4 it’s just that Stam was so far up the pitch at times it may have looked like a 3.

    And no I’m serious. ;)

Also, during the warm-up when they do the shooting practice in the little nets in the corner he had a right go at one of the coaches for not rolling the ball to him correctly. Definite change in attitude.

They should have had a go at him.Cows arse and banjo spring to mind !!! ;)

in reply to: Angelo Henriquez has joined on loan #98949

Not much point taking him unless he does get a game.

Fergie has probably stipulated he needs to play as well – like when we had Cleverley.

We need all the help we can get at present especially when Kone goes to Africa.

To be fair it was Utd and they are by far the best team I’ve seen at the DW so far this season.

We did look more of a threat when Stam and Gomez came on but they were 3-0 up at the time. However I like Stam at right back with Boycey in the centre.

I’d be more concenrned if we’d performed like this at Villa but we played them off the park.

forget this one and let’s move on.

One of the Jimmy Macks in the centre with Boyce and Lopez either side?????

    Just a thought :(

    in reply to: Joke #97729

Best centre forward ?? Well Henri Camera was top scorer in that first season not Jason Roberts.I did prefer Roberts as a player though.

Can’t fault JR for effort but he’s never been prolific in the Premier League. He and Ellington scored for fun in the Promotion Season but his only 2 performances that mirrored those performances were against Man City in the 4-3 Boxing Day classic, the FA cup replay at Leeds and obviously the semi final at Highbury.

Kone – well on close scutiny his first touch is awful.Looks like he’d have trouble trapping a bag of cement.

Mike Jones !!! Always been poor.Wasn’t he the ref at Chelsea last season??

And finally Joke yes, Shoulder charge yes !!

3 cock ups in 3 games now.It gets worse !!!

in reply to: Newcastle tonight.. Predictions? #97608

Another Al Habsi cock up for the second. You have to push the ball out further than that.

    Glutton for punishment me !!

Sorry but at the point Barry shot we had been stretched and that gave him the space to shoot into.

Prior to Milner coming on City played very narrow therefore so did our midfield and centre halves.Someone went out wide to cover Milner the gap between the centre halves widened giving space to shoot into.

Stretched/out of position what’s the difference? Barry’s shot should have been held by Ali anyway and then we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

We deserved at least a point for that performance. It’s a cruel league at times.
