He has a similar turning circle to HMS Ark Royal nowadays.
Plenty of players knocking about that are cheaper and better. Matt Kilgannon is one.
I thought Tuncay had gone to Fenerbahce on a season-long loan? Wiki says he hasn’t, did I dream that?
Distin and Bentley would be terrific signings, but would cost us too much I fear, in terms of wages at least.
Less than 9 quid petrol? What you drivin a smart car?Have I underestimated there then?
He’s played three games.
Costly didn’t look up to much at Birmingham in the Championship – I can’t seem him having much of an impact here. Why we are signing Championship players is beyond me.
£10.30 a bit steep??To get to Blackpool, yes. It’s £9 on the coach and would be a lot less in petrol.
Train’s £10.30 too, which is a bit steep.
Yes he was in charge of Swansea when they played Wolves, so that makes tonights rubbish even worse as he should have known how Wolves play. Obviously he has very little experience in knowing how to manage a premier league club. I have my doubts about his suitability as manager. Whelan was spouting about him on Sky Sports over the weekend saying that he will be one of the top four managers in the country. Well not on tonigts performance. Whelan its time you kept your gob shut! You are completely overreacting. We have lost one game for Christ’s sake. Against a decent side that scored from a set piece early on and then put ten men behind the ball.
Let’s not forget that we are WIGAN. How can losing a Premiership game against Wolves cause so much outrage? We’re by no means the finished article yet.
Didn’t he play against Wolves with Swansea only last season??Beat them 3-1 at the Liberty Stadium too.
It’s not about spending money.
We do need a centre midfielder, I’ll admit that, but we could quite have easily played 4-5-1 like Wolves and nullified all our chances of going for a win by settling for a point and hoping that we grabbed a goal from somewhere – which is what we would have done under previous regimes. But instead, Martinez set us out to have four men committed to getting forward and creating what they could and, well, it didn’t work, but that’s not necessarily down to a lack of quality.
We need somobody to drop deeper and recieve the ball from Bramble and Scharner, otherwise they will have to resort to just knocking it about amongst themselves. Neither Brown or Thomas did that and when Gómez did he was followed by David Edwards.
Yeah, Whelan! Sign players for over-the-odds or we’re going down!!11
What are you talking about? The same team turned over ‘Champions League hopefuls’ Villa on Saturday. They just didn’t perform all too well against a team that did exactly what we succeeded at doing under Bruce.
Worst performance in fifty years? Get out. Overreact much?
We were playing a side that came to defend and did so well. It was perhaps tactical naivety thinking that we could pass through them, but it certainly wasn’t the worst performance in the past year, let alone fifty.
And we don’t need to spend big, we just need the right type of player – a good passer of the ball in the middle of midfield.
Haha, good one mate.
sat in es4 tonight ,never heard as many moaning tossers in all my 30 years of supporting latics,we all hate losing but some people are just embarrasing.Aye, I was in ES3 and people were booing at half time and shouting get it forward at every opportunity. Imbaciles.
Mancienne was quality tonight – I’m not at all surprised that he got called into the England squad judging by that performance. He kept Rodallega out of the game completely. And fair play to Wolves; they came and snatched a goal and defended valiantly for the rest of the game – they deserved their points truth be told.
As for us, we need someone that can pass a ball in the centre of midfield, because when we play at home and teams come and close us down and mark our wingers out of the game, all of our creativity is rendered redundant and we become impotent unless we run at them. A Xabi Alonso type player alongside Hendry Thomas would work perfectly, hopefully Messrs Bodde and Diamé will live up to that tag.
I think I’ll be seeing Scharner and Bramble playing one-twos in my sleep.
I reckon they’ll be going 4-5-1 with Keogh up front on his own. They shouldn’t cause us too much of a threat but whether we will be able to break them down is another matter. Is N’Zogbia definitely out? This could be a game were Bouaouzan gets a chance because we could do with a player who will run at sides that have come to defend and get their defence on the back-foot.
