I’ve thought for a few weeks that one of our biggest problems is the fact that we are playing with N’Zogbia on one side, and Rodallega on the other. Neither are really defence-minded players, and don’t give a lot of helping cover to the full-backs behind them.
I also think that Ronnie Stam is a better midfielder, than full back. I think he is prone to getting caught too far up field.
Rodallega on the left just doesn’t work for me. We need a real lively left-footed player on that side.Someone to whip the crosses over, and get to the byline. N’Zogbia? Maybe.
N’Zogbia left back for me, but I doubt it’lll happen, we’ve got other options for the wings – Moses, Gomez, Stam, De Ridder, McArthur and Hugo.
If we play Franco Di Santo up front, on his own he normally he plays wery well with Hugo and Charles on the wings.
It might be that without McCarthy, he [Di Santo] gets less time with the ball, but his ‘attacking replacement’ – Diame, has done very well adjusting to his new role.
The majority of people (like me) might think of it as a one off, as Martinez said; it was our worst performance of the season – possibly the worst as Bobby as manager.
This was our 1st full Premier League game without McCarthy, and what we keep calling 10 weeks – Martinez insists is 3 months [12 weeks] so I can see this being very much like the Moses saga. It might be that we need to bring Gomez/Watson in the team to replace Cleverley/Thomas, because Cleverley can’t last 90 mins and Thomas hasn’t been playing as well as Diame or Gomez.
If we fail to produce a decent amount of opportunities against Blackburn – I reckon we’ll be in the relegation zone for quite a while.
Next 2 games – without Boyce …..

To be fair, did we really have enough time on the ball in their half to create anything – no. We had three chances, a 40 yard free-kick from N’Zogbia (should of been a corner), a great solo counter attack again by N’Zogbia (shot wide) and a very acute angled shot from Diame.
Other than that, there was nothing.
As soon as Franco was subbed, Ali’s goal-kicks had to go towards the wings because of the lack of height up-front. But no, they went straight up field for little Hugo to battle for.
Well Al Habsi’s 2 kicks to the wing in the 1st half did sail straight out of play so maybe he lacked confidence ………

I admit to being one of the people who tried to hurry Ali to take the goal kick.
This was because the Swansea keeper was ‘lightly jogging’ out of our penalty area.
If we would of scored like that, without their goalie in the net – it would of been good ;)
