Bit of both I reckon, Whelan will leave a manager to manage I think, as long as their thoughts n methods don’t stray too far from his own and he must be frugal
I think he has become the bookies favourite because they think McClaren will want higher wages than Whelan will be prepared to pay, I hope Whelan will pick McClaren and they can reach an understanding on wages linked into bonuses if he gets us up or something .
McClaren
I will accept the assistant managers post
The last manager that left us saying he’d taken us as far as he could was Paul Jewel, not exactly improved his cv since, big mistake Roberto, Everton won’t put up with losing 7/8 in a row
Roberto Di Matteo has been a success at MK Dons, West Brom & Chelsea, proven at different levels
Roberto Di Matteo please Davey baby
Do you think another manager could have done any better with the same resources?
Many wouldn’t even have tried.[/quote]
Paul Jewel tried and succeeded except to beat United at Cardiff and not that he had a cup final to deal with but when Bruce came in for Hutchings I think he managed 14th, as I said I do like Martinez as a person & I believe he does care about WAFC but he knew the score when he took the job and I think his 3year plan prediction involved being in the top 10, we’ve been relegated under him and each year under him we’ve survived by the skin of our teeth, I’m not slating Martinez for fun, I’m just saying that he hasn’t delivered in the league as he said he would, knowing what his resources were and not having the combination to the war chest, he didn’t get Swansea promoted and for me the jury’s still out on how good he is, if he leaves after taking us down I think he has failed to finish the job he set out to do .
I agree with most of it, the bottom line is year on year failure in the league with his 3 year plan resulting in us being relegated, being on the edge of your opponents box and choosing to pass back to your keeper continually leaves me scratching my head & let’s be honest we were very lucky to scrape through against Bournemouth & Macclesfield in the cup, I do actually like Martinez but am yet to be convinced he’s destined to be a Mourinho .
Im just looking to the season in a big way, it’ll be a welcome change going to grounds ive either not been to or havent been for a long time, I think away followings will increase quite a bit, hopefully most aways will be more affordable this season, if i can afford it i’ll be going to the europa games too and the hotels already booked for the charity shield, happy days ;)
That pa system was pathetic, only to be expected from wish fm amateurs though
:silly:
Wouldn’t be surprised if it was true as he’s dropped a few hints in recent comments, can’t say i’d be overly disappointed really, i’ll always be grateful for the cup win but he had a 3 year plan and i don’t remember relegation being part of that, i just hope he’s replaced with someone of proven quality like Di Matteo and i would wish bob all the best .
I always want Wigan to be playing at the highest level possible but I’m looking forward to next season as a refreshing change, hope we can rebuild and mount a challenge to go back to the Prem and be more competetive .
I’ll happily applaud both suggestions . Will there be collections for Josephs goal there on sunday ?
