Colchester beating Leeds was a big one and Sutton beating Coventry.
Remember the day Colchester beat Leeds we were at Fleetwood away. Someone stamped on Col Roughleys shiny Docs and nicked his scarf. Remember Col giving chase and retrieving his scarf.I believe they meant Sheffield Eagles victory over Wigan in the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final in 1998And there was me thinking this was a football forum!
But surely a bigger shock than us getting beat by one of the Sheffield sides Fil.
Was Japan beating South Africa a shock?
Which Sheffield was it United or Wednesday and which win was that against us. Don’t think that would rate as much of a shock.
I must admit though Latics beating City in the FA Cup final was one of the biggest ever shocks in sporting history. As soon as Cowie is fit he will be sold along with Grant Holt, stupid bloody window allowing. McCann and Barnet with them.
Very good Squire and another excellent gate.
My take on today is that we achieved a scruffy win against a team that had a real go in the second half.
defended well and put in 150% which is all you can ask for and I agree what will we achieve once the team finds it feet?
Superb goal from wigan lad Flores and he was my man and of the match for that goal and assist alone.
One little moan all those fookin part time supporters queuing at the cash turnstiles because we have picked up a bit recently -tossers!!!So a bloke who recently lost his job and couldn’t afford a season ticket or a family person who works with rent/ mortgage to pay who financialy struggles with all the other bills or someone with other interests as well as football decides they all want to pay on the day are tossers. Where is the logic there. Two or three hundred in one throw can and is a lot of money for some. Remember to that all those tossers are paying a premium to support Latics that way by paying nearly double for a match. May be there seemed more due to lack of pay turnstiles open. Buying a season ticket or an online ticket doesn’t make you a bigger fans than the others.
Thing is though we are discussing the crowds about how good they are and not how poor. Who would ever have forcast a Latics v Fleetwood crowd at over 8 thousand. Years ago never ever in our wildest dreams would that have been thought of. We can now proudly say we are one of the best supported clubs in League One.
Q. Have you got any plans to help try get to that 100 point target?
A. There’s a big difference between ‘want’ and ‘will’, who wouldn’t want their football club to dominate the league?
Any owner, manager or fan would ‘want’ their club to get 100 points.
The target has always been promotion, and I will never regret being ambitious.Q. Given the option would you rather be on Celebrity Big Brother, I’m a Celebrity or Strictly Come Dancing?
A. It’s not really my sort of thing, but if anything, the jungle with Jimmy Bullard!Q. Which player has impressed you most so far this season?
A. Craig Davies. On his day he’s unplayable. And David Perkins, he runs to away games instead of getting the coach.Q. would you come and sit in the stands with the fans on a away game
A. Definitely, I’ve been in with the away fans a lot before supporters recognised me.Q. What happened with the Jermaine Pennant contract?
A. I offered him a deal which he turned down in May. I then got a phone call from his agent when I was in Scotland. He asked if a deal was still on the table, but we had just signed Michael Jacobs. So I said we have to move on. I would like to wish Jermaine all the best, he’s a good pro.Q. Where do you want the club to be in the next 5years?
A. It’s a big rebuilding process, we’ve seen what can go wrong over 2 years. However, I have high hopes for the future.Q. Does the big drop in attendance worry you, and do you think it may have an effect on our long term ambitions
A. It doesn’t worry me, attendances change with performances. The fans who still come are an absolute credit to us.Q. What happened to the James Vaughan deal?
A. It’s not right to talk publicly about another club’s player. We wouldn’t want this happening to us.Q. Apart from Gary Caldwell, which other former players would make good managers?
A. Roberto.Read more: http://www.wigan.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=29263&posts=11#ixzz3m6EcGndk
Huws should know better JR.
Emyr is just one of so many ex Latics men who have left over the last few years. It is inevitable that one or some of them are going to score every week.
Very good point cup winning Mon. Totally agree with your sentiments. Rotate should have been the word
Personally I would not rotate as we need a consistent regular side playing week in,week out.No Caldwell showed us his preference was not to play with two out and out strikers.
No just prompting reaction. Agree we should have enough in the squad to win both but if we all think it’s games the teams need to gel together could be an idea to play the strongest side in both games which won’t be foregone conclusions.
That is a good assumption Yoke Mon. I don’t think any player right through the leagues who was on international duty and training away from their teams last week started on Saturday. Seems like a masterplan and a master stroke pulled by Gaz. In that case why didn’t Jordi start? Negative stroke resulting in negative result.
