I must admit that we were far from just a tippy tappy possesion type team last night. It was far from a slow build up type game at all. At times we moved forward really well it was simply some performances let the side down. Perkins played a great role and if others showed the movement of Flores and Jacobs and if there was a little more out wide putting in crosses then we won’t be far off mid table by Christmas but it could be easier if we played with two strikers or when the game is winnable get another on to push for a win. It certainly looked like we will see more than the slow horrible build ups from the back. Flores run in the first half was Ricky Villa like and Jacobs run looked George Best like and a breath of fresh air compared to what we saw last year, all such a shame that substituting Grigg cost us the game.
Weak spots guess who?funnyly enough the two that Bolton didn’t want.

Lostock don’t worry Dtandish mon got the Bob way last night. Throwing a perfectly winnable game away with substituting a lone striker with a knackered lone striker. Bob at his best that was.

The pressure is building after watching that crap at Coventry and now this following on from games last season he needs to turn it around and quick . I’ve seen enough to think give him more time but will the fans, all i’m hearing is bad vibes at the moment and lots of hatred on Sat.

Hatred for what Grumpy? The negative football, Signings, Caldwell. We don’t really hear much vitriol or hatred on here but there are probably only about twenty or thirty or so regulars which is a lot short of the 2k that went to Cov.

Al who are we? If its good enough for Martinez Caldwell and Pulis then it works.
Certainly worked for us in the last two games. If nothing else we are consistent. Have a look at some vids of when we used to play football in the days of the Jeweler it should cheer you up. Roberts and Ellington then later under Bruce Heskey and Camara really shite compared with Davies on his own up top tonight. But Al we are mere mortals not Pulis OR Martinez or Caldwell. After seeing Davies tonight though they are winning me over to the lone striker idea. Superb.

The decision to replace Grigg with the Bolton reject was baffling. Playing at home and really not playing too badly overall considering the players don’t know each other and replacing a striker with a slow and unfit version of Fortune, wow mind blowing. If anything bring the lump on alongside Grigg but oh no, not Gaz instead of going for it this happened.
Perkins worked well, Jacobs looked class, the youngsters played and worked hard but Barnet, Odelousi and Davies very poor. Who actually scouted these Bolton rejects. Did anyone see them first? If they were not wanted by a very poor Bolton side why oh why do we get stuck with them. Question is can they improve. I would think if Bolton didn’t want them then that must be a no.
Two strikers Sunday Gary is a must and try and take this league by storm. who have we got though Grigg and McKay, tuther two aren’t fit.

All down to Caldwell’s idiot decision to sub Grigg for the inept Davies. Relegation dogfight starts Sunday.

Pre season did have a plan and 5/7 matches is fine for a squad of eighteen or so but for the amount of players there are in a squad these days and all the new faces 5/7 is not enough. Again this is a problem brought on by not having a traditional first team and reserve team. With that plenty match time prep was given.

OK boys let’s all bow down to Tony Pulis. Suppose having a cash turnstile is a shit idea too?

Jesus egg Mon its not like thugby. Six months in the pub then out on the pitch punching the shit out of an opponent. Our side this season will be lucky if they have played 100 minutes apiece pre season.

Off course Pulis knows more than me or any other fan but should that stop you having an opinion. Ffs Pulis has a history of playing horrible drab football different to Bobs but equally as drab. Jesus if he had played his usual one up front negative bilge he could have got beaten 5 nil and he would be saying he should have tried two up front.

How about a dozen games spread amongst a squad of over 25 giving players match time.

What it is is most people have seen the club rise to the top league with the help of Dave Whelan and things were great. Now we have seen the fall from the top league with the same man owning the club and doing everything to run the club on very tight budgets unlike other clubs. Dave is still one of the wealthiest men in the UK and really as been quite ruthless with the austerity measures. Some would say they can’t blame him its his money while others would argue that a couple of bob extra invested in the last couple of years may well have promoted us back to the Premier League especially in the Coyle/Rosler season. Prudence in that what could have been premier league season could have seen us relegated but relegated in Burnley style where they took a fortune down with them. Reality is where we are with austerity hitting us further and having to off-load the Delorts Tavs Rieras Waghorns without even seeing what they can do. Who knows we might not get to see much of the new bunch of journeymen but we will still watch, not out of blind faith but it of something that is in our blood that makes us go and see what matches we can, check scores every week, check news now every hour, look on vital, read comments on herd. Whelan, Coyle, Rosler, Bruce, Martinez, Jewell, are all custodians but we are supporters and support our club in many different ways but with one common thing our love for Latics and not for whether we agree or disagree with all the afore mentioned people.

Well there is Grigg and Holt (injured) or Davies (half fit version of Fortune) or Billy (who will be going back to Scotland). Remember we got shut of the other four strikers. Looks like in reality strikers are not a priority at Latics anymore. Been linked with plenty over closed season but we have two less than last season.
