Piccadily is closest and sign posted its about a mile away and you can get a bus if you fancy from the bus station! Off the top of my head theres a little station a bit closer called ashby or summat but im not sure what trains go that way!

I cant say the Preston or Reading games as like Brett Ormerod id been recalled to faraway shores (or mallorca working). and im still sure that he was recalled to stop us going up!
Leeds was a great game but for me it would have top be either the Gillingham playoff final till the German turned up, Stoke 6-1 or some of the Blackpool games!
However for best overall it will always have to be torquay in about 96/97 it seemed like all of Wigan had taken over Torquay and it was my first proper away trip with a stay over! We are going up!

Alex theres a difference between creating a atmosphere and being a nuisance or some might say a stain on our club (note i say our club because thats who it should belong to the fans). There was a better atmosphere at Springfield park and during our rise up the leagues at the JJb than there is now or has been during the so called prem years.
The problem is what some people think of as atmosphere isnt what older fans would class. To me the banging of the wall, sidings and drum whilst whistling is all Soccer am crap! Whats happened to our traditions? Wheres Yams gone? Why are we rehashing Teales old song for Zoggy?
As for your hatred of Scouse fans most of them that go home and away actually have a great deal of respect for us and what we have achieved unlike the Manchester clubs fans who see us as a pimple on the arse of their achievements. Its only since the last few times theyve visited that theyve begun to lose respect because of our tennage wannabe element.
To be honest alex il probably know you by sight and your dad especially if you dont go with your mates! I agreed that if we cant sell our allocation then why not offer another section or wing to fans and have it cordened off. Lets be honest if it werent for the police and the poor followings from some clubs we would still offer the east as a away stand im sure of it!
Everyone does have different opinions of football violence however the thing is the younger generation have been brought up with it glamourised in these films of recent years like Football Factory but have no recollection of the days when it was scary to go to games, and no idea of how it used to be. Im only 30 but in my days fighting it was just a straightner nowadys its 10 on 1 in King street not good odds if your the 1 and then youve got the dicks that think its cool to be seen carrying a knife!
As for whats said about attendances im going to say something not many will agree on but our club is dying and some would say the core has already died!
Yes i know its contreversial but look around you at the next game and ask how many would be there if it was championship football never mind league 1 or 2. Like vat says its all about money now.
The problem is at Wigan the people that should be our main demographic and our loyal fans are no longer coming to games for many reasons, too many to discuss here. Does the club chase them or try to attract them back? No it would rather have the youth and familys but il guarentee if we ever go down a lot will disappear! Then the club will be trying to get people back.Next game look at the South stand, and es8, ws1 and ws8. They are nearly empty so why doesnt the club do something to fill these areas? The easiest one would be to offer dirt cheap season tickets to pensioners, Jobless, people on benifits in these areas and this would bring good publicity to the club and these people if they get a job would move to better seats and pay more once youve hooked them. Is the club bothered? No it would rather take the chance that against a big 4 side we sell out.
In the English game the rich are getting richer and the poor getting poorer because of the way the tv deals are set up and the cahmpions league however will sky change it? No because they are too scared the big clubs will either run off or demand they can sell their own rights!
Vat i worked for a company Radio Rentals that was bought by a bank Nomura that bougt it solely to get loans from the future rental revenues. However it went tits up when it became easier to get credit and tvs became cheaper plus the bank cut down on stock and new items etc. Radio Rentals had to merge with Granada to keep the loans and then disappeared. The bank is still paying the debts off. That could happen here!
As for the European superleague its economically not viable according to hundreds or reports yet the big clubs like to keep it there hanging to have one over on Sky.
The biggest problem at the moment is the 10%rise in tax for the uks highest earners. Footballers cant get around it the same way Bankers etc can as they have to be paid in a way that is transparant by the FA so theres no brown envolopes (supposdly). At the moment the pfa is kicking up a fuss in private to goverment to make footballers exempt hence why not many players have been signing no new contracts about this but at the end of the day unless the goverment folds under the pressure a extra 10% will have to found by every club and were do you think thats going to come from???
