Just read that Big Dan would be their 4th choice centre half; so come on Dan, it’s a no brainer and you’re better of as No1 choice at the Latics !!!!!!!!
He was until Cedric came along ;)
Kone was great. Looking much younger since his break from us. Mind you I can vouch for the Wigan ageing process …. supporting WAFC has added years to me. Maybe I need a break.
Gibbon was a class above today keep sober and out of prison and he can be key to our season
Robinson was lightening and excellent defender he must of been close to pushing Baines out the best left back we’ve had since him.
Keep picking points up I’m optimistic we can achieve a top half this season. Was he funky as well?
oo ooo ooo!!!
We are here to show you how
Ooh, ooh, ooh, the funky gibbon
He’s just like you
So come on and do
The funky gibbon nowYou’re famous GG. ;)For what??!!
How on earth do you work that out!!!! Tell me and I’ll tell you if I was he!! I can’t see the link or connection any where!! Anyway I want maintain my anonymity
Can we stop the music nonsense when we score?
I agree. It’s cheesy and naff and stifles the natural response to a goal. Do you really have to be prompted to celebrate a goal?
“But the kids like it”. Kids like lots of things that they eventually grow out of. This is one of them. Stop it.
Yeah you right on all of those … it’s ‘a marmite’. It’s cheesy, it’s naff and that is why it is so good. Loadsa people love Blackpool, Benidorm, and many other things that are cheesy and naff. The kids love it, and there is hopefully a kid in all of us still. It’s such a shame when their exuberance gets trained out of them.
Lots of us can still have a natural response to scoring as well.
Some love it; some loathe it. Guess where I lie on the spectrum. A self confessed cheesy naff kid. Lets compromise ….. music for alternate goals or alternate games????
Runcorn & DNR …. I’m really sorry to say but you missed a. the best game of the season, and b. the best game we’ve played in the Championship, for ages. You also missed seeing the only club ever to move from bottom to 2nd in 1 game, and deservedly so. We were last night in position for auto promotion. That is how good it was.
There wasn’t a stand out M o M; there were 11 of them. It was a real team effort. The litmus test for me is if you are neutral how would you feel at the final whistle. If it were me, and I’m pretty objective and neutral … I’d be going home thinking ‘great game, money well spent’.
Often when we win the ‘nay-sayers’ don’t give us credit but say the oppo were rubbish. Actually Sheffield were pretty good. We were just better.
Callum showed his dancing and dinking skills when he came on. Powell looked as if he could be bothered but needed several injury breaks. He seems to get terribly injured when he and the ball make contact. The new boys …. Kipre-Kone, Robinson who can’t spell his first name but runs faster than a retriever and Gibson were brilliant. Jacobs played one of his best games ever. So good in fact I have suggested to Sharpie he needs to be sold. Number 11 was stand out and Reece James has been having lessons from Jordi Gomez in sublime passes. I could go on. Vaughanie when he came on tore their defence apart. He’s up for everything. Keener than a jack russell looking for a ferret.
We scored and the music came on ….. it was great. Like old times. What’s not to like!!?? Except no one in the east stand heard it so we don’t really know if it was on.
Anyway, have you got the message. A great game. A belting atmosphere helped hugely by the Sheffield crowd who made the Cop sound like a Sunday morning service at the local gospel church. Added to all that was a delicious liquid lunch at the WC. (Wigan Central).
He’ll be competing with another of our favourites …. Gaetang Bong.

MorsyI know this for a fact. Now Norma has gone she is no longer subject to her secrecy / confidentiality / gagging clause. She counted them all up and I know there will be 13969. End of. Dead cert!
This is very scientific …….. !!!!! We’re going down again. Only 809 votes for us to go up and 1800 to go down!! Any one want a cheaP SEASON TICKET!!
I’m all for it. I get so fed up when fouls that are obvious on TV are missed. It’s not good enough to say ‘it all evens out in the end’.
The ref should be able to use it when ever he wants, and either the manager or captain can have 1 or 2 calls per half, non cumulative.
But, it needs to to be much quicker; much quicker. Maybe it should be replayed on the big screen so we can all see it.
Also, I get fed up with all the shirt tugging. Shirts should have velcro side seems so with a tug they come a part. The foul is then blatantly obvious as well as being a nice bit of eye candy for some.
Bring it on, on I say.
There, that’s todays rant, yours comudgedly of Coventry.
The blue …. goes to the left the brown …. goes to the right.
Or is it the blue and yellow Wires??I think this post belongs in the non football stupid things people do thread.
To be fair 90% of Doonys posts should go in the a ‘stupid things people post’ thread,
It’s out of season …. a bit of interesting trivia is allowed to keep tthe forum rumbling.
Good words Mr Goals Galore.Donny, thanks, much appreciated. I was a bit anxious posting that – pinning my ‘flag to the mast, and showing my colours’, but your kind response is heartening. Thanks alot. (If I could ahve PM’d you I would ahve done, but dunno how)!!
I thought the scene of them really enjoying themselves for 90 minutes was very special.
Surely one of the fastest sendings of was Andreas Johansson at Highbury. He literally came on, Arsenal took a free kick into the area and he was sent off. Why?
Fleetwood was a great day out. But the nicest non footballing thing for me was at Fleetwood when I saw someone wearing an Amnesty T-shirt with ‘Football welcomes Refugees’ on the front.
Fleetwood had joined in with the FA / EFL / EPL day of ‘welcome’. There were 15 Syrians of all ages, male and female all having a great day out, and seeing some good football.
That was a stand out non football moment for me.
