you are right though griff! i hope your dad is going to be ok? my old man died of cancer last year so this football thing gets put on to the back burner when it comes to family!

He’s fine, it was some time ago. They gave him three of those bypasses and he’s as good as new. The weakness comes from my mother brow-beating all the energy out of him since it happened. He’s not allowed to lift a stamp now. :)

I always thought that phrase was a daft ‘un, to be honest. A bit like cheap at half the price. Well of course it is! Surely the phrase should be cheap at twice the price? :?

like i said on another post what does not kill you makes you stronger?.if we get tonked on saturday after black sunday then i am very concerned?

Not actually true though, is it?

My old man had a heart attack which thankfully left him alive, but weak as a kitten. :?

” Total frenzy ” !!!! Now you are being silly Griff and here is me thinking you were one of the sensible ones on here ! You have failed to see my point that financial reparation is not the answer and certainly not public financial reparation ! For instance if we had been 2 or 3 up and then got beat then that in my opinion would have been worse yet you see sides doing that from time to time. Now you dont see them offering refunds do you ! The City fans didnt get a refund after the Boro debacle did they ! The funny thing in all of this is…If we had taken a couple of thousand there would be no refunds !!

Now, you’re making a big assumption about the last bit and I hope we’ll never be able to prove you right or wrong :)

Losing after being 3 up would indeed be hard to take but I think the fuss made about this is due to the stigma attached to conceding 9 goals. I think in that context then the reund is a “nice” gesture, which is all I said all along. No need to put the players on a pedestal, it really is the bare, bare minimum they could have done.

Anyway, tesco bags at the ready, let’s move on.

If you are suggesting and I think you are, that if I didnt go then it is none of my business and that I shouldn’t comment then may I suggest that if the players wanted to make such a gesture then it should have been done on a more personal level and not spread all over the papers and on the tv. By publicly refunding a few fans their money in a futile bid to keep player/fans relations intact they have left themselves wide open for public ( ME ) opinion and in my opinion made a faux pas.Everyone I know who aint a Latics fan finds it most amusing that they are literally paying for their incompetence! Sounds like a DWesque publicity stunt to me. I would rather see my team come out of that tunnel on Saturday and work their nads off,get a well deserved victory and then parade themselves, hands aloft clapping to our 3 stands ! That would firmly draw a line under this situation !

Of course we all want them to put it right on Saturday, and I hope as much as the next man that they do. Unless the next man is Boobyswigan who probably would like to see us lose.

Everyone I know (including fans of other clubs) has said it was the right thing for the club/players/whelan to do (whoever ordered it), no more, no less. Just an easy, right thing for them to do. End of, move on. Hardly anyone I know has worked themselves up into a total frenzy about it like you.

And i am not suggesting that the refund has nothing to do with you. I am categorically stating that it has nothing to do with you

The equivalent of a whip round for a coach driver to the likes of us pro rata wages wise ! I would be pleased if we showed some fighting spirit once in a while and didnt totally collapse like we have done several times already this season ! All we hear in their defense is Chelsea this and Villa that !! In my honest opinion those 2 sides were pretty poor by their standards when we beat them ! We showed the sort of bottle and guile that I like when we came from behind to beat Burnley in a gritty and hard fought derby ! More of that and we will be ok but tin pot gestures mean fcuk all to me personally !

    Did you go to Spurs?
i fail to see what that has to do with anything based on what I have wrote ?????????????
Because if you didn’t, then you are not even entitled to the “tin-pot gesture” and therefore should, and actually, DOES mean “fcuk all” to you personally.

I’m still trying to decide whether to let him back on at all, what does everyone think?…. I’ll let you lot decide!

Don’t see why he should be banned just because he’s annoying and spouts rubbish that no-one agrees with. It’s actually quite entertaining trying to predict what rubbish he’s going to come out with next!

There have been more annoying posters, the likes of Hit4sixty-nine or whatever.
If he posted something more constructive than whelen/martinez blah blah blah id welcome him back!
You’re in charge buddy, but I wouldn’t hold out much hope of him posting about anything else – he hasn’t done so far

in reply to: Time to change my screen name? #13749
He certainly should be let back on for two hours per day thats enough to fill a page full

Can you do anything BUT fill a page full? :?

    ;)

I know its the middle of the night over there, but has anybody heard of, listened to or listens to 1116 SEN Melbourne radio station??

If your up, listen to it around 6.20 a.m. your time and you’ll hear a Wigan accent on Aussie radio.

Saying what, “Not guilty, your honour”? ;)

Then again seems like you are one of ‘those’ who only come on and talk when something goes wrong.

And there are enough of them about.

Its mind games! Bent will play!

Its a completly different kettle of fish Sunderland! For one Andy Reid has got no pace! Even if he does always seem to play well against us!

And he looks like Jimmy from Mudhuts :o

in reply to: Let’s Think about Saturday #13730
Fig was on the bench for the tottenham game, but is it worth risking him on saturday ?

If he was on the bench, he should be fit to play. What’s the worse that can happen? Get’s f***** completely and ruins his dream move to Sunderland?

”My point was that Bobby is in good company choosing this tactic”

The problem with that theory being that whereas Real Madrid & Liverpool have the players to be able to play that system successfully in their respective top flights, Wigan Athletic quite clearly don’t
Bobby should be able to see that and adjust his tactics/systems/whatever accordingly. At the moment he either can’t see that or he can, is too stubborn to change it & thinks if he gets them to play that way for long enough then they’ll turn into great players at some point
I asked after the Pompey game how many times does he have to stick his hand in a fire before he realises it burns – I’d like to add this week that you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear

Agreed, to a point. I have said before that it may be that Bobby believes that, with the squad he has got, this is the ONLY way we can play.

I don’t know whether this is the case or not, only the activity in January will answer that.

at the forum last week martinez said he didn’t beleive in defensive coaches.

    Clearly not :D
