Ah – the “I was only joking” defence :)
Have you watched the Video? He is quite clearly stopping himself from laughing, I don’t for one minute believe this is just a ‘defense’.
Especially after McClaren did a similar thing, he wouldn’t do it seriously, clearly just taking the p*ss.
No point hating for the sake of hating, it was funny, give him some credit, as it’s probably the only thing he has, and ever will do, that has some amusement to it.

I follow him on twitter, yes. Not for any reason, just follow most people I come across on there. To be honest the regular banter between him and Piers Morgan can be amusing.
That being said you wouldnt need to follow him as his name has been ‘trending’ in the UK for the last couple days.
All was done as a joke, and to give him his dues, it was funny, probably got the attention he wanted.

As i stated in the post I am NOT criticising/slating either of the 2 aforementioned players, but people slate Gomez for things that other players are more guilty of!

I’m sorry but even if you put “Not slating these players, but” at the start of a sentence, if you then go on to say “they don’t even look forwards” then you are criticising them. How could it not be?? It’s like when someone says “I’m not taking the pish, but..” & then proceeds to take the pish
I get your general point but people have opinions just like you. You like Gomez & think he’s a good player, some other people don’t. Those who booed Gomez in the 1st half on Saturday were merely exercising their right to voice their opinions on him just like you have about McCarthy & McArthur (albeit on a different forum)

In all honesty I like McCarthy and McArthur and see no need to critisice them, and it was not my intention for it to come across that way. I was only making the point that Gomez was being slated for not looking forwards, when he clearly does, and other players that don’t get slated do the exact thing that Gomez was being incorrectly slated for.
People are fully entitled to their opinions, but as you stated before, it is counterproductive to do so in the way of boo-ing.

Not slating these players, but if you want to talk about a backward facing game look at McCarthy and McArthur! I know they ARE more defensive players but still, they don’t even look forwards! Why were people booing Gomez after the first 10 minutes?!
Bar the few bad touches that he had early on he was our best player! I’ve always liked him and it is there for all to see that he has class, and now it is his time to show it, as he did on Saturday!
Even in the first half I thought he played well, me and the guy at the side of me (Which I believe to be Scoffy??) were somewhat bemused by the boos at him, it is absolutely ridiculous!
All in all, a well fought performance and thouroughly deserved the 3 points!!

Im slowly going off Kone, don’t think he has played as well in his last few games.
To top it all off I put him as Capt of my Fantasy league this week!!!Usually stick up for Gomez, thought today was one of his worst performances. Obviously not counting the perfect hat trick.This made me laugh… One of his worst performaces..?? .. He played Kone through more times than I can remember! Every piece of ‘good’ attacking play we had, involed Gomez! Showed true class.

I actually thought he was having a mixed day, some great touches, but got caught in possession numerous times. The 3 goals made up for that.

Their best chance now is that the players react well to the new manager and string a few results together as individually they are easily good enough for the prem.
