In view with what happened with Michael Schumacher recently, I suggest we should stay well away from Schlupps.

OK you have some fair points which I acknowledge [see its easy, no childish comments on your intellect no reference to spelling mistakes etc]

I usually play to my audience

I have spoken to “my insider” since the info he gave me and it turns out that it was Will Keane and not Powell that had said his goodbye””””s. I suppose the young Man Utd loanee got mixed up in the Chinese whisper chain.

Dangerous source then, if he can’t be trusted to get a simple name right
Just been told he has said his goodbye’s to his Latics team mates and cleared his locker out at CP. :(

What did he say? “Lads, that’s me done. Well, actually, I’ll play this game at Derby first and then I might be done. Or I might not. But if that JR fella asks, tell him I’ve said my goodbyes and I’m done. But don’t put an apostrophe in ‘goodbyes’ when you tell him.”
Obviously 90% of the CL posters on here have not had their wish come true for 2014, as you are still posting on here. :P

Your unmistakeable sarcastic, but un-witty trademark, goes before you.
I can only tell you what I’ve been told, so if it’s not 100% accurate, don’t blame the messenger. I desperately want it be duff information, but let’s see if there is any substance in it, albeit incorrect timings.
Anyway, it’s another great trait of yours, “I’ve nothing to add to this discussion so I’ll pick up on the spelling mistakes”, like many have said before me, for Christ sake man, get a fekin life!
I also pick up on people who claim to be in the “ITK” but post absolute bollocks and believe it to be the truth. So, if you’re going to post shit that subsequently proves to be shit then, as the messenger, expect to be shot. ;)

I have a couple of fairly decent sources associated with club but they are, quite rightly, extremely discreet at all times. That’s why when I hear someone brag that they have “it on good authority” I am confident that 95% of the time it’s complete fabrication.

Anything I am told, by the way, I wouldn’t dream of sharing on this forum.
You are not unique by the way, I would expect anyone who received sensitive information about the club, from officials of that club, would keep mum. That’s completely different for persons who are not connected to the club and the information is common knowledge or not deemed sensitive / confidential.
I know several staff at the DW, we share the same conference facilities, run regular daytime meetings in the various DW lounges, frequent the same eating places for lunch, work closely with their community outreach teams and we even provide their development squad / reserves with their football pitch and changing facilities.
I also worked for 20 years with the dad of a Latics official that, shall we say, is sat closer to the manager than any spectator during a match.
I would never dream of even asking any of them for information about the club.

Oh and your comment “That’s why when I hear someone brag that they have “it on good authority” I am confident that 95% of the time it’s complete fabrication”. I totally agree with that statement. That’s why I didn’t post that the info I received was given on good authority. B)

I agree – I was forcing myself to go to the games and watch the crap that Coyle served up – now the buzz is back (though Birmingham was not great).

I will always love the Spanish Guy and no matter what he will always be a legend – The end of the penultimate season was the best football I have ever seen (especially the Man U game) from Latics and what Martinez was about – yes he failed to keep us up because we did not have the depth of squad that could overcome the loss of Alcaraz and Ramis – but the FA Cup was just out of this world and beyond 99% of our supports expectations.

I mourned his loss because I could see how Coyle dismantled all the hard work from the last 4 years.

We all knew Bobby would leave and 4 years was more than i expected and showed he really does care about Wigan.

I am rejuvinated by Uwe and believe he will be excellent for us – but I bet you now, he will not be with us for more than 3 years – If he succeeds and gets us into the premier league then we will be lucky to get more than 1 year more from him before one of the bigger clubs comes in for him.

In the meantime – lets just enjoy it.

Got to agree with paragraphs 5 and 6, the ones before perhaps not.
I have never once had to “force myself” to go and watch my team play. I see it has being able to take the rough with the smooth. There has been some dark, dark, times being a Latics supporter, far darker than OC’s time in charge.

No back tracking from me Griff, none what so ever. I was merely just stating the point that the title of the thread and the first post indicated something different than what you and others thought it meant. Maybe there was a subliminal message in there, who knows.

If you decide to look into a comment deeper and make it read what you want it to read then so be it.

Like I say, no back tracking at all, I still hope he fails as badly at Everton as he did with us.

I do realise its probably unlikely as he inherited a better set of players and has also borrowed a quarter of his team from other clubs.

Great post Horc, got your point of view over without the need to make childish insults towards others on here who may have a different view, well done. .

Interesting one – Derby will expect to tonk us after that debacle in November and I’m sure our players will be up for this one. Most championship teams even those in form have a wobble at some point and I have a sneaky feeling for this one.

Worked out just as I thought they turned up thinking it would be a coast and how wrong they were -our lads looked very well organised and jean scored a superb goal at just the right time.
they had a couple of chances but to be honest we could have won the game more comfortably and things are starting to get exciting with the way uwe has got them playing.
I think the win was more to do with uwe tic tacs. Packed the midfield with workers and stopped them from playing their game. When he took roger off for macca that seemed to open the game up a bit more and derby looked more threatening. We could have a future top manager at our club?
Where have we heard that before?

That was a gritty, well orchestrated 3 nurps, onwards and upwards!!

Dare I say it, there are a few winnable games coming up in the next 5-6 weeks, lets keep our clean sheets and find that fox in the box and its really game on. :cheer:

I think some of us are going to have a very upsetting season. Too bad.

You are all coming in your pants too early.

Bobby inherited a team who finished 6th in the EPL last season. If he gets them to a higher finishing spot this season, then well done Roberto. If not, then he has just maintained the standards that the current pish poor Man Utd manager you are referring to, reached season after season at Goodison. The very same DM who inherited a bag of shyte.

Lets wait and see what RM does shall we. B)

But, it could be a good move, if it comes off. Could.

I thought Holt, Fortune and McCann were brilliant signings at the the time, just like most others did. They haven’t really worked out as we’d have liked.

I personally wouldn’t include McCann as one of Coyles failures. He has cemented his place in the team and whilst not being spectacular he does a decent job similar to what Paul Rogers did and to an extent James McCarthy.

The sale of McCarthy and Kone not included in those accounts. It will be interesting to see the 2013-2014 accounts when this revenue and hopefully January’s expenditure [ :woohoo: ] is put into the mix.

One of just a few positives to come out of OC’s reign. H’s going to be a top notch player and for me head and shoulders above Tom Cleverly, having seen both at close range playing for the tics.
