Set your sights higher my friends. Its on par with you already drive round in top of the range merc and suddenly decide to park it up in your garage and bring your rusty old Hillman Imp out, cos it brings back good memories.

Whenever I watch an English first or second division match on telly I give up after 20 mins as it looks like the players are playing in flip flops and kicking a beach ball about. Woeful football just woeful. :woohoo:

We are in the exact same position with almost identical points and goal difference for the 3rd year running and so I don’t see why some of us are surprised ! I will say it again, this club has gone as far as it can possibly go !

Deja vu yes so what is negative about that?-teams never get relagated in december do they?
Each year the final points tally has been improved upon under Martinez and i have no doubt that this will happen again. He does an incredible job on tight resources which is why other clubs keep hovering about each close season.
We have seen some fantastic games and some amazing results against the top 4 that we certainly didnt get with Bruce and Jewell.
His teams are inconsistent and drive us all up the wall at times but you cannot argue with his loyalty and comittment to Latics. The improvement will come and we will defy the odds once again.
Easily three worse teams than us this year and i am confident we will survive this year and improve the points tally as usual.
Go on then, name 3 worse teams than us? I’m not seeing it, myself.

Going off our current average, I predict we will end up with around 35 points.
For the last 3-4 seasons under different disguises, you have come on here Dave predicting we’ll go down only to blow a fuse when we eventually escape. Try chilling out in December and January and put your typing finger in hibernation for a few months.
There’s a long way to go yet and I’m glad you have predicted 35 points cos you usually underestimate by at least 10 points. B) :P

More than 15 players for 25 million.

The price tags were no great shakes but the 70K per week wages reported to be paid to the likes of Park with no relegation wage drop clause can only be considered insane at best.
Know what you mean, but I bet he’s not on that much money.

And lets be honest, if we had signed Park, most of us would’ve been very pleased and seen it as something of a ‘coup’.

Personally, I think he signed a decent bunch of players for that 25 million. Some proven players as well, who’ve played in the Premiership. Where as, we always take a chance on if a lad will be good enough at this level.

I think we’re too small minded as a club. Have done for a while.
You have just proved what myself and a few others think, Mark Hughes wouldn’t hold a candle to our bobby. If you think those “decent bunch of players” at QPR are on anything less than £50K per week then you must be deluded.
SWP and Cisse probably more nearer the £60-70k per week mark.

I honestly think that our wheeling and dealing policy is both astute and realistic. OK some players have not made the grade and have consequently been shipped out. There are one or two players amongst our ranks now that may get shipped out in the next window, but the better players will make this club a bit more money and better placed to stay in this division. Look at the likes of WBA, who a lot of posters on here have said are a far bigger club than ours and yet they do just what they are famous for boing, boing to the championship and back every other year.

The very reason why we are posting on here and Whelan is supping sangria in his Barbados holiday home, is that he knows how to run a business which if you like it or not, is exactly what Wigan Athletic is.

Mr Fernandes must have been very impressed with the “decent bunch of players” yoozie had put together, so much so he has kicked him back to whence he came.

I to get frustrated when we seem to be getting a decent team together then wooooosh the carpets pulled from under us, but this is what Wigan Athletic is at the moment. Who knows were we will be in years to come, but whatever league we are in, I can’t see us in a position where we are dusting off the collection buckets and asking for fans loose change to pay the players.

I bet Peter Kay’s sh*ting himself!

In ‘Smyths’, buying presents for the kids, and looking at the shelves where there were Army Tanks and next to them there were ‘Star Wars’ mini planets, I said to the dragon, “Should we go for the special Egyptian offer then?”

“The special Egyptian offer?” She said, puzzled.

When contracts are described a x years with an option, that option is usually referring to an option the club or player has to extend it for a further amount of time – normally if the player makes a specific number of appearances.
I don’t think it means an option say for someone else to put in an amount specific bid for him & they can have him or an option for 1 or both parties to cancel it for any reason e.g. if the player wants a big move
Yeah thats what I was thinking an option for him to extend a year by choice considering him talking about it giving him a secure future.
Hope you’re right boys. :)
