It would be interesting to see how many middle aged blonde ladies rushed to open this thread, when they saw the subject title.

What a journey! He’s probably going to get slated from every angle for the few late poor decisions he made, but I thought Howard Webb did quite a good job.
He could have easily lost it early on and we would have seen the first 5-a-side world cup final.

What a journey! Not my bag but I am all for original material so they get the thumbs up from me. Have they got a label ? I know someone who might be able to help them out !They are not signed to any label yet. If you have a mate who could help, be so good as to drop me a private message.

What a journey!Went up last night with the kids on ours bikes and found a cracking spot just to the side of the stage. Going back tonight to see N-Dubz anybody got an idea what time they go on stage? No idea, but i’ve just heard a gang of hoodies outside the shops near the fingerpost in Aspull, saying they are going up to the hall tonight in numbers “bike stealing”.
Apparently there are some idiots daft enough to go up there on two wheels and are easy prey for this professional gang from moss side.

What a journey!was the thing that your son played there free?. fair dues if that’s the case but they have had things like this at avenham park in Preston in the past. the heineken music festival were oasis, inspiral carpets, the stranglers, the Christians and loads off others played who I can’t remember as it was 16 years ago over 3 nights and they were free. you would think they would have had some popular indie/ rock band on at haigh hall but they haven’t?. let me guess rock FM are something to do with it. there is nothing on that line up for a lot of people. who from Wigan is going to pay 33 pounds to see the welsh bird singing covers?. i can guess that a lot of the people who attend will not be from Wigan. ?edit.. ronan keating is middle of the road rubbish.
each to there own though. I am guessing you have already purchased your ticket for the keating gig :PApart from Oaisis the others you’ve mentioned are that popular, ask anyone on here to remember 3 songs of theirs without googling and they’d be struggling. As for the rest of the bands taking part on that monster event, you can’t even remember who they were.
Do you not realise what sponsorship is? The heineken festival was sponsored by guess who……..?
Good luck to these venues for getting that kind of sponsorship were they don’t have to charge to get in, its hard to find companies who’ll do that these days. Heineken are probably closing places down and losing jobs hand over fist now wishing they had the thousands paid to the Gallaghers and co. at the time.Yes the Haigh festival is free and costs a bit of money to set up. Over 35 thousand attended over the day last year and this year will probably be the same.
As for not trying pleasing everybody, a quirky young energetic boy band, followed by a hip hop band, followed by a soul diva, followed by a opera singer, followed by a girl band followed by a ex boy band and middle of the road favourite, is a bloody good attempt.
PS No I will not be watching Ronan Keating, even though its not now the 30 odd quid you’ve quoted to watch him and the rest of the acts, its actually just half that!!. Just check out the 2 for 1 specials that are now on.
By the way, the jazz festival starts next week if you fancy a bit of that stuffThis thread needs moving to the music forum and to the original poster McFly were due on stage at 9:30pm and have now probably fecked off to wence they come, with a couple of fit wigan wenches on each arm.

What a journey! Not really, I’ve been in the music scene myself for many years mainly as a solo artist. I am the first to have a go at the lads if they produce anything that I think is shyte and tell them so.
One… you could hear the words being sung and two….there was a decent melody line to their songs.
Many of the bands just banged out a load of grunge, bashing about on their instruments for 3 or 4 minutes. I found their songs totally pointless and actually hurtful to the ear.Like I said it wouldn’t do for us all to like the same stuff.

What a journey! Are you serious, its the biggest set of concerts held in wigan since the verve and all you can do is take the pish.
For your information, whether you like it or not:-
N-Dubz are probably the most popular hip hop band in the UK and have had 8 top 40 hits in the singles charts even though they are all quite young. Their second album against all odds went platinum within 6 weeks of release.
Katherine Jenkins is the most popular classical artist in the UK. 6 out of her first 7 albums reached number one in the clasical music charts. She has performed with the all worlds top opera singers and is now making a name on the popular music scene having done recent work with likes of Lionel Richie.
I could build up a similar case for the rest of the line up.Ronan Keating for example has done more top ranking giggs both with a boy band and has a solo artist, than anyone you could throw on stage. I would fill the page with his number one singles and albums.
These acts cost 5-10 pounds more to watch at venues like the MEN and O2 Arena and the places get packed. Someone has come up with this idea and worked damned hard to make it happen in our own back yard FFS and the best you can come up with are cheap shots. If you don’t want to pay 30 odd quid to watch any of these I don’t blame you, cos they are not my cup of tea, but please refrain fom having a go and suggesting they should be free. The fees these artists demand would make your hair curl and if you wanted something for nowt, you could have done the haigh fest sunday. :x
