Hats off to Shrewsbury in my opinion. They played a team who had just scored 7 a few days earlier away from home. Gave 120% battled for every ball and got what they came for. I’ve never seen Morsey and Evans so quiet, just got bundled off the ball. Thought the ref could have brandished the cards far earlier than he did. It seems like the rules change after 70 mins, tackles that are let go for a hour suddenly become fouls. They had a game plan and it worked irrespective of whether we liked that game plan or not. They’ve taken 4 nurps off us and have fully deserved them IMO. Let’s move on still with a 4 point gap and take our first ‘double’ on Friday.

What a journey!Glad I was there to witness that, by far the best football we have played since I’ve been watching them from the good old non league games. I won’t listen to anyone who says Oxford are rubbish, they were one of the favs for promotion at the begining of the season. All 14 players who played a part at some point were hungrier, more skillfull and far more tactically aware than their opposing player. 2 away games, 6 points, 11 goals, 0 conceded, it doesn’t get better than that.

What a journey!I’d forgot about him, perhaps he could play the Sam Morsey role with the addition of a few goals un aw

What a journey!A midfield general in the same mould as Morsey. Someone who can drive the team forward, unfortunately Power and Perkins are not the answer.
I also wouldn’t mind a tall bustling centre forward who will give us the option of putting in a big punt into the box when struggling to break teams down. I’m not a lover of this type of tactics or player, but you need it in your armoury.

What a journey! He wasn’t impinging anything, John. I was sat right in a line with him. The forward was yards away – maybe from where you sit it looked nearer but he really wasn’t near him – he just held on to it for around 15 seconds with no attempt to get rid.Fair comment George, however, I would expect the referee to be stood around the half way line waiting for the kick, so he also would not have known how far the forward was away from the goalie. He could however see that he was directly in front of him, moving to his left as the goalie moved to his right with the ball.
Still think it was harsh bearing in mind it was the last kick of the game. I suppose the goalie should have booted it straight into touch as near to the half way line as possible and avoided all the contraversy. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Disagree about Roberts, thought he was one of only a few players who actually played ok. Others who did ok for me was Elder, Byrne and of course Grigg. The rest were diabolical bad.
It goes to show how we all see things differently.
George, you have referred to the young lad in goal as a clown on more than one occasion tonight. IMO he looked no worse than Jones has been, spilled a few shots, dropped the odd cross and of course held on to the ball for 6.9 seconds when the forward was moving with him trying to put him off. 99 times out of 100 the ref would have warned the forward to move away. Earlier he was jumping up and down in front of him for the free kick. Has ungentlemanly conduct been scratched out of the rule book.6.9 seconds? Really? It was more like double that.[/quote]
Yes it was longer than 6.9 secs but that was due to the forward impinging on his kicking zone. As I said, normally the ref would make the player move away but in this case he didn’t. This resulted in the long delay by he keeper releasing the ball. That’s how I saw it. It’s a similar thing to the action taken by refs when players take throw ins from 20-30 yards further up the field to where the ball went out of play. 999 times out of 1000 they ignore it, then suddenly you’ll get one ref who will award a throw in to the opposition.

What a journey! In the words of Paul Jewell, fans are great at picking a team, AFTER the match.
There is nobody in this world can convince me that the team Cook played last night wasn’t good enough to tonk AFC Fylde.
I also disagree with the point that we haven’t got strength in depth. In normal circumstances if one, two or even three players are out injured or suspended, the majority of those players who played last night could slot in and do a job. Yes a couple more in January would be nice particularly cover for Morsey as he was unbelievably missed last night.
Does anyone remember the team that played Macclesfield when we won the FA cup?. Have a look and tell me what the difference was last night. From Matlock to ManU

What a journey! They wanted it far more than we did. And that joke keeper almost cost us in the last seconds with a schoolboy error of holding on far too long and conceding an indirect free kick in the area.
Fylde were applauded off – by those that had stayed that long. Was one who stopped and applauded them. Gave 110% from first whistle to last.
Love that comment about having no quality on bench, Mr Grigg came on and netted 2. Foot, mouth comment me thinks. From Matlock to ManU
