Football play-offs just as bad???? Don’t be so ridiculous. When did a football team lose in the play-offs then get another chance, or get to pick who they play next?
When Swindon won a playoff final the losers were promoted instead – around 1990.
Oh dear, too much 8 Ace for you tonight Bobby boy?
It must be hard having to drown your sorrows so often.
^^^^^^^^^^^^
15525 – 5000 = not a lot.
15525, of which approx 5,000 were supporting Man City…
The Wigan public love their football, dont they.
You’d have to search long and hard to find anyone who actually thought the game last night would attract a 15,000+ crowd.
In the context of it, 8500 Wigan supporters shelling out for an additional game at short notice that, in all honesty, most hadnt budgeted for, is not a bad effort. True, its not great, but it shows that 8500 people cared enough about their club to get off their arses and cheer them on to a win.
Compare it to the 3000 Wiganers who shelled out for a cup replay against Notts County at short notice and suddenly 8500 doesnt look too bad.
But of course attendances dont matter to Latics fans do they….
I’m getting my laughter gear ready for your game against Preston in a few days:
Big Local Rivals
Cheap Tickets
Plenty of notice of the fixture, rather than 5 days.
Large travelling supportAll this would point to a big attendance….
See you on Wednesday night. ;)
You dont happen to sit in the Boston Stand, just across the walkway from where the “Mudhuts” flag resides on matchdays do you?
I’m Brian and so’s my wife.

Before you ejaculate in a fit of bile, why not check the OFFICIAL SITE:
http://www.wiganwarriors.com/wFixtures.aspx
12177. All of whom paid for their ticket. No Season Tickets, no £7.50 tickets, no £25 family deals, no freebies given out to schools.
Compared with your paltry efforts so far, 12177 is quite respectable.
I wonder what DW will come up with to “beat” that for the Wolves game on 2 October. Buy one, get 10 free perhaps?
No comment on attendence eh   :oops:12177 according to the OFFICIAL website.
http://www.wiganwarriors.com/wFixtures.aspx
So, 12,177 people all paid to attend. Any guess how many non-season ticket holders paid to watch the “big” game on Saturday, and how many will pay to watch the “big” game with Man City?
My guess is you could add both up and they wouldnt reach 12177.
Or 12177 if you go to the official site:
So, to recap, just about 11,000 folk can be @rsed these days to watch the most popular game in the world’s most popular league, with cheap season tickets and £7.50 tickets available.
But thats ok as long as that figure is more than a figure for a live tv game for a minority sport played in one small part of England at which everyone paid for their ticket.
Have I got that right?
Its a funny old world. Rather like a sport where a team can finish 6th, more than 30 points behind the side that finishes first, but still manage to be promoted at the end of the season. They get two games to make the playoff final, so it doesnt matter if they lose the first one.
Then to cap it all, they beat that side 2-0 in the next game between the two sides, just 4 months after finishing so far behind them, even binoculars couldnt spot them.
Oh yeah, and they can win against some other minor side 4-0.
You could make some clear comparisons to this fixture and determine how much support has been lost. Last season, Wigan hosted Sunderland the game after a drubbing at Spurs. This season Wigan host Sunderland after a victory at Spurs.Prior to last year, all the premier league fixtures between Wigan & Sunderland at the DW have been played early season. Every fixture has kicked off at 3pm on a Saturday.
Attendances so far:
2005/6 – 17223
2007/8 – 18639
2008/9 – 18015
2009/10 – 20447The constant factor above was that Sunderland either sold out or came damn close to selling all their tickets.
My guess is that the total crowd will be around 17,000, with 4500 – 5000 supporting Sunderland, but I guess it depends on how many take up the offer of dirt cheap tickets.
My point is that 5000 people who turned up last November didnt today. I guess they may have something more important to spend their money on this weekend.
