And Owen does look comical standing on the touchline in his shorts. I wonder if he’ll be tempted to turn out and play again, or perhaps wear something more dignified.”
I think he’ll wear a complimentary pair of light tan shoes and ankle socks with his shorts !
He can wear what he likes, as long as the Tics get back to winning ways; even a kilt with his tan shoes !

Why are you so ungrateful? Can’t you bring yourself to say anything charitable about Roberto?.Err pardon, I’ve been very supportative of Roberto during his time as a player & Manager at Wigan; almost man love; just ask HORC. However, my unconditional loyalty looks misplaced, since he has dumped us for greener grass; so maybe it’s time to take off my Roberto tinted spectacles and be honest about his brand of football, tactics, etc. Yes, thanks for the FA Cup; but he didn’t exactly plan it that way. We scraped through the first three games and only got serious at the quarter final stage.
My original thread was really aimed at people slagging off OC before we have even kicked a ball; probably the same people that have moaned about RM for the last 4 years. I’m not one of them, I always endeavour to support the Manager & Players for better or worse !
What were the Wigan results against Bolton during the reign of these managers. I certainly remember getting tonked at the Reebok over Christmas 2011. Can anyone recall the positives that Roberto took from that game ? Was he proud of the performance; did we “grow into” the game ( by the 89th minute ).Why is everyone so touchy ? Just trying to draw a comparison between us and Bolton at the time, because I thought that Bolton under Coyle were a stubborn team to beat. I for one will be supporting Coyle from the off and give him a chance to prove himself. Like Donny’s Page said in an earlier post, surely he can’t be any worse than Roberto. I really wanted Roberto to succeed and be an all time Latics Legend, but I think he “bluffed it” for the past two years and only survived so long because of the man love that DW afforded him. I now think that DW played a subtle game to oust Roberto without losing too much face after all the public loyalty that was spouted. If he’d really wanted to keep Roberto, he would have pulled out all the stops.
You never know, this might be the springboard that we need !
Can it? Surely not.
Apart from the odd game..pretty poor and boreing football with one up front. Hardly any wins. Terrible at home and very negative with tippy tappy football going backwards. One or two bright spells at the end of seasons when we went positive through shear desperation. Surely it can not be any worse under this new mon or can it?Spot on Donny; will’ta be gooin next season ?
I reckon a tenner on Latics for promotion and a tenner on Everton for relegation !
Heard yesterday that our new Manager will be on a £2m bonus if he achieves promotion back to the Prem at the first attempt. If that is true then DW is wise to dangle that £2m carrot, rather than fork out £1.7m when nothing has been achieved yet !
I agree with you Phil.
Some of our anti Bolton Brigade can’t put aside their prejudices and consider what he did at Bolton. He certainly got them playing a better style of football than Big Sam and made some shrewd loans / signings.
Give the Mon a chance !!!!!!

Get your banner ready !
Hi Ali,still pinching myself mate.We both know how it used to be all those years ago and only in our wildest dreams was Saturday supposed to happen. In 73 I cried as a kid after losing to Scarborough on Saturday there were tears again mate and I aint ashamed to admit it but the tears were so different. This amazing club will never cease to impress but after what I saw on Saturday and the performance was simply staggering. It may not be the biggest club in the world it may not be the most successful club in the world but it is simply the most amazing club in the world by a million mile.Ali, remember watching back in the days when the “Bloody rubbish Wigan” brigade were in full voice, could any of us have had an idea of what would happen in 2013?. It is beyond comprehension.Savings fund to be started for a European party     :lol:Well said Ste. I agree, this is such an amazing club; I’d like to write the film script myself. It was hard trying to hold back the emotions on Saturday, especially as I tried to get the words to “Abide With Me” out, loud and proud; and then again when the back of the City net bulged !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
