would be nice to have an Albert in the team; last one was Albert Jackson.

Albert Crusat was in our squad, but hardly ever in the team. Albert Jackson on the other hand was a first team member for long periods.
Sorry, I’ve already forgot most of Bobby’s wonder signings !
The Leyland Massif seems to have been flexing it’s “We know all about Wigan’s historical players” muscles quite a bit recently but looks to have contracted a serious case of pins and needles!!

First getting the last Albert to play for us wrong, then getting Gilly’s playing position wrong. Nothing worse than trying to look clever then looking daft.

    Buck up, lads! ;)
What was his mother thinking, a Spanish Albert should surely be Alberto; so in my book he’s not a full Albert and therefore doesn’t count.

Alex Cribley had the look of “Terry from Brookside.
Then we had Nigel Mansel in the nets; aka Simon Farnworth.
Not to forget Kwai Chang Caine; our very own Lee Koo ( where is he now ? )

Do you think that Owen Coyle looks a bit like an owd version of Columbo ?

in reply to: damn you Coyle!! #117979

Just as a piss take, like !

Aye, what about the 6ft 2″ centre half from Liverpool; young lad about 20. He good be a good loan player.

in reply to: QPR ! #117572
    Those are cack odds.

To be honest, I’d hoped the bookies would stick us at least 20-1, at least it’d give me a chance to get summat back for the cost of my season ticket! :woohoo:

Well then, have a tenner on RM for the sack @ 40/1; Filmoss has.
Ooopps sorry, all the Martinez groupies will now bombard this thread !

I should think we all accept that the main reason was the vast gulf in finances between teams, with Wigan with the least and Manchester City with most.

You’re so right; match tactics and team selection, don’t count for much; do they !

in reply to: If Roberto was still in charge #117433

    at 40/1, you’re well in !

Looks to be a fair comparisson to me.

No, it’s not – making things up isn’t fair!

Besides, Martinez was in a different league to Coyle.
Aye, you’re right WGTB; he was in a different league, Cloud Cuckoo League to be precise ! And he’s better off staying there !

The same FA cup Bob tried to get us knocked out of till we got to Everton in the quarters .

Correct, he only took it seriously from that game onwards.

As for RM’s transfer activity he always talked that he had targets identified well in advance, and then it took longer than forever to land any of them. It was just another frustrating aspect of his Managerial reign. Owen has been in the hot seat less than 4 weeks and made six signings. Looks to be a fair comparisson to me.

Coyle is doing things his way.

Let’s stop these futile comparisons with Martinez – he doesn’t work here any more.

Don’t agree with you WGTB, opinion is about comparisson, in everything we do. Your boss will compare your performance against your peers. You will compare one lager against another, or your ex wife with your new girlfriend, etc, etc. So my friend it is not futile, it is life; it is what you, I and everyone else does !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should have added, about Roberto: just like he’s fannying around with the Kone deal. FFS man, get it done, if yer doing it !
