I remember when he was coming towards the end of his tenure at Wigan and he was getting plenty of stick about his weight. Can’t remember which away match it was but during pre match warm up he was blasting the ball and clearly missing on purpose as to try and get his own back on the crowd who had been getting on his back (Gomez style).
He ended up hitting a fan and giving them a nasty surprise. Any body remember that match?
The clubs position is
Sounds like the club don’t even know what’s really going on. Clear as mud.
As I have no children and am not married……..You got off lightly. :silly:
My first game was in 1656, remember it like it was yesterday, can’t believe my little club has got to the fa cup final, I’m welling up here.1656? You’ve had to wait a long time :)
Thing is we should use it as a party to celebrate all things Wigan Athletic and the journey we have had so far, irrespective of the result. I’ll still be singing win, lose or draw.
Hope the council will still be as enthuastic when we are in the championship.
He certainly didn’t say he was going to Everton when I spoke with him yesterday.CLANG!!!
Another automated phone message? ;)
Will Everton buy into his philosophy because it takes a long time to change the way a team plays, especially as Everton play a more cut and thrust game. Might mean changing a lot of personnel and fans being patient?
I was thinking more along the lines of Griff, Standish, Appley and Bicky.
Call me what you like but that’s how i roll.Sounds like an invitation. ;)
Quarterback, have we changed sports :PWe do have the huddle at the beginning of every match now.
It is certainly an advantage that we play Arsenal on Tuesday rather than 3 o’clock on Saturday and then straight afterwards get to Wembley for the final. ;)In your day Garswood tha would have done a shift downt pit before playing in the afternoon, no doubt.
I agree with the fact that Beasajour and Maloney work well together and Maloney struggled last night because of that imo. Considering that was his first outing in that position and he hasn’t had the time on the field like the other players, I think he did okay.
1st goal, great ball and a well timed run and pin point volley, would have done most defences. 2nd goal Caldwell gave ball away and the third goal was badly defended by all and sundry.
Don’t think he had a shocker and he played better than I expected.
They take on some really risky passes at times though. It almost seems unbelievable that they would do this constantly without some remit from Martinez. I’ve said it before that, in my opinion, I think they are told to pass it out at all costs, as if you keep playing this way your confidence will grow on the ball and we can live with the odd mistake if it is for the benefit of every player being comfortable on the ball.
I’d love to be able to ask him that question, as to how much he encourages the team to pass at all costs. I see benefits in this strategy over a season, it’s just high risk on games upon which so much rests.
